Ed boon discusses with Ermac before mk4! Along with others.

Hey peeps check out this funny little dialogue I picked up, and tell me what you think.

Ed Boon: Right, everyone, I'd like to throw it open to the house - would anyone care to suggest a death move that he or she had come up with that they would like us to include in the game?
Sub-Zero: Well most of my fans were a little disappointed about the omission of my famous 'spine rip' move in MK3, so I'd like to use that again if I may.
Ed Boon: Good, good, I was thinking the same, actually. It'll probably look rather cool in 3D...
Ermac: How about...
Ed Boon: No, Ermac, you know we're not putting a lame character like you in another game. We only put you in Ultimate MK3 because we ran out of ideas and didn't have a red ninja, so sit down.
Ermac: Sorry.
Ed Boon: Anyone else?
Scorpion: I was thinking about some sort of relevance to my namesake. I have actually been practicing morphing like Mr Kang here, and I think maybe some sort of Scorpion move would be quite effective.
Ed Boon: Yes! Yes! This is all good stuff.
Liu Kang: In addition to the dragon move mentioned implicitly by Scorpion over there, I'd like to use my holy flames to perform some sort of death move.
Ed Boon: In what way?
Liu Kang: I thought I could pick up the opponent, fling them into the air and then toast them in mid-flight.
Ed Boon: Excellent! Well, Quan-Chi, do you have anything to add? What is the death move you've come up with?
Quan-Chi: [Slowly gets to his feet] Uh - I could ... er ... RIP THEIR LEG OFF!
Everyone: [Stares as if expecting more]
Quan-Chi Uh... and then I could ... CLUB THEM TO DEATH WITH IT!
Everyone: [Roars with laughter]
Ed Boon: [Wipes eyes from laughing too hard] Oh yes! I like it. Quan-Chi, with your ingenuity as part of this game, I don't have to bother coming up with any silly hidden bits like Friendships or Babalities! Well done!

No problemo, it was too too cool to pass up. I like it when Ed boon basically sais shut up and sit down, and Ermac sais "sorry..."

Most people hate the two palette swaps that came after mk2 it isn't a big secret that replice sub-zero and scorpion were all the same sprite pre mk3/umk, and IMO ermac and rain had a good story that should and could be developed, lame characters like tanya and Jai aswell as jarek could have been left out in exchange for the development of these two.

I really don't like Ermac simply becuase he doesn't bring anything new to the table. Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Reptile, and to a significantly lesser extent Smoke, all have their unique storylines, personalites and moves, whereas Ermac was just a tired an uninteresting palette swap. Theoretically I guess they could've given him the same treatment as Reptile, and again Smoke to a lesser extent, got - a storyline and personality of his own even if it's not in the game the character originally got introduced and established. Either way I'm glad we haven't seen much of Ermac and Rain since MKT, as they were never really much more than joke characters anyway. Should either of them be brought back in future games, they'd need complete makeovers, along with relevant storylines for ME to respect them, anyway...

Above and beyond the fact that Ermac's storyline is lame, and the character idea originally was lame, the actual playability of the character is remarkably fun. Ermac is a comboing, juggling God.

I think Ermac's storyline is actually awesome - a collection of souls, in one being, under the control of Shao Kahn.

The thing is, he didn't need to be a palette-swap Ninja in order for this to be the case.

Oh I agree, that storyline is cool, his original storyline however was that he was in hiding since the first MK tournament, and no one accepts his existance, so he wins to tourny to prove himself, that was a load of crap, and the MK crew just using the rumor to their advantage.

Technically Ermac was one of the first ninja's of the original Mortal Kombat.

I thought he was AWESOME! A red ninja with glowing green eyes. Shoots large green energy balls that made cannon sounds. The Telekinetic Slam was awesome looking. And the whole idea of him being a collection of souls formed together to make a single entity was fascinating to me when i was younger...And it still is. That alone makes him a unique and interesting character!

Kenshi is too similar to Ermac...I have my ideas about the two...

GraveDigger, you are talking about UMK3, not MK1.

I made my signature and changed Scorpion's costume to red by fiddling with the colors.
