does anyone have any MK roms for SNES
that have changed sprites and stuff?
I can't find any!
I tried making my own called Brutal Wombat.
I changed Goro to Zoro,
Sub-zero to Tub-Zero
Johnny cage to Ken Ken Poo (Inside Joke)
Sonya to Lezzy (another inside joke)
Kano to Mayo
Rayden to Faggot
Liu Kang to Poo Sang
and more...
I don't know how to edit sprites though...
I'm very tired and have gas,
so don't have very good grammer.

I gave Mario Horns and red eyes in Mario Kart, is that close enough?

editting MK pics is annoying for SNES because the chars are broken up into very small pieces. I never found a program that let you assemble the small pieces so you can edit it as a whole picture.

But, stuff like that might be out there and I just haven't looked hard enough.

if i colde do that, i'd turn all of the wepons into kiton utensils, all the carders into fighting foodons, and rename capcom vs. sink fighting foodons.

Yeah, I think all the hexeditors I have used on roms have annoying color settings. I've been thinking about this since my last message and I think I had a hexeditor that let you set up the pallet so you could see how it would look in game. It may have even had some options for putting chunks of picture together. I will look through my usual web haunts and see if I can find any of them again.

I had a very kool MK4-PC hack done by some russian guyz where you where able to use Goro through all stages and you could perform fatals with Goro and on Goro. I saved it somewhere on a floppy disk. If I find it I could mail it to you.

All the SNES rom editors are annoying I think. I have a simple hexeditor I made in Rapid-Q already, I am gonna take a shot at implementing some graphics display. I want to make it put the images together into wholes instead of them being so broken up and putting in pallet editting wouldn't be bad. I've seen utilities for extracting pallets from SNES games so I'll probably check their source to see if I can use it with the MK games for correct pallets in the editor as well as pallet editting in the game.

If anyone has had any experience programming an editor like this, drop me a line. I've never done it before so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great!!!
Don't forget to send it to me at
wolf3d_boy@yahoo.com
when you are done.
anyway, will it work with all SNES roms?
or only MK?
I wouldn't mind if it only worked with
MK, I'm just wondering if it would work
with donkey kong or something.

Right now I am making it specifically for MK. Because that way I can make it automatically assemble the pictures of the characters. The pictures used in game are broken up differently and located in different parts of the rom for each game. So, either I make a universal one like most of the ones out there that are annoying to look at, or I make it for specific games so it can put everything together correctly. If I figure this crap out better I'd probably make downloadable patches that make it work with other games besides MK but, honestly, that probably won't happen :)

what MK is it for?
MK1 MK2 or MK3?
I hope MK1 cause it's easier to edit.

I had a rom hack of UMK3 Genesis that someone made, making Smoke completely white and changing his name to Cloud, but I lost it.

I am hoping to make different versions for the different MKs, cause the images are in different locations for each. I haven't gotten to putting the graphics together inside the rom yet, but I will probably start with MK1 then work my way through to UMK3. If there are problems with that I might go so far as to make a version for SSF2 cause the graphics are so easy to edit.
