In Mortal Kombat 1, I'm having a little trouble doing Liu Kang's fatality. I know it is a 360 but I haven't been able to make the move itself work. Is there a certain distance from my opponent that I am supposed to use it from?
It's clockwise 360° starting from forward. Also, you may find holding block useful. If you can't do it at first, just keep rotating. It's quite easy to perform, even on keyboard.

That's right
Actually, I've just played the game, to check this out, 'cause in games section on MKO you can see that in both MK1 and MK2 it's counterclockwise, while in reality it's clockwise in MK1 and counterclockwise in MK2. Well, it looks like yet another mistake there. Murdoink, are you reading this?
