About Me

You're under my skin, the poison within
Diabolical rapture that's dripping with sin.
Break down my will, a kiss for the kill
Bury me deep between death and the thrill
Let glow red the poison sun, and the flames to make me numb
Let me hear the words which I have been dying to hear
Burn my fingers one by one, guide me down into the sun
Let me show you how I crave to make you come

Yep, I've had MKDA here for the last 3 days (which is now very overdue, which I refuse to pay since I'm cheap). A quick little review -
Gameplay - Pretty damned good, although the way the different martial arts are shown isn't too accurate (some are good, most aren't very well shown though). That's only a little detail though, and most people wouldn't know the difference anyway. It's fun to play, although only after a couple of days it's getting really old. Granted, I have been playing the hell through it since it's only a rental. If I owned a console, I can honestly say I wouldn't buy the game. Don't get me wrong, I had fun with it and it IS a good game, it just seems to be lacking any real lasting appeal. Great fun, but shortlived in my case --- 7/10.

Graphics - Brilliant, the overall look of the characters, the backgrounds, the blood effects, the facial damage, all extremely well done. No complaints come to mind --- 10/10

Sound - The soundtrack is very well done, each bit of music suits the stage perfectly. The screams, slashes, punches and what not all sound cool. Aside from being a little repetitive, the sound is great - 9/10

Characters - The design of the characters is probably the best to come from an MK game to date. The fighting styles match alot of the characters, some could've been better though (ie: Kali sticks are used in Escrima, it would've made sense for Sonya to have that style, or for Quan Chi to have the matching weapons atleast). The special moves are interesting, some are great (Kung Lao's "Whirlwind Kick", Raiden's "Shocker", etc), some are a little bland (Kitana's "Pretty Kick", Sonya's "Flying Kick", etc). Blah blah blah, to the point - 8/10

Fatalities - Not bad at all, but not great either. There are a few highlights, but alot of them seem to be lacking "something". I like the way they're trying to come up with unique ideas (Li Mei's fatality, Nitara's fatality, etc), but the fatalities tend to look stupid due to lack of body damage and what not. Had they of added little details like ripped open chests (Kano) and what not, this could've had the best fatalities to date. Not their (the MK team) fault though, they had a deadline and they were rushed - 7/10

Overall - Lots of fun while it lasts, great graphics, gameplay and sound. Although lack of content drags it down a little. In 1 day you can easily see all of the fatalities and unlock all characters (assuming you did my trick and cheated by looking up a Krypt guide). In a couple of days you can beat it with every character in both Konquest and Arcade (another problem, the endings are too short. If they're going to have picture endings, they should atleast be pretty long and explain ALOT). In a week or so you could unlock everything in the krypt, but most of the stuff in there isn't worth unlocking really - 8/10

Obviously I've never reviewed a game before tongue

All in all, MKDA is fun for a little while. Not a huge let down, but definately not the brilliant game the MK team were bragging about. As I said though, they can't be blamed for having an unreasonable deadline (I think if they were given the time, they would've added 2 fatalities, stage fatalities, the ripped clothing and body damage, etc). This is another one of those cases where the game could've been great, but it ended up being rushed just to drag in the bucks.

MKDA rulez! ive been paying for exactly a whole week, done all konquest missions, unlocked blaze/mokap, unlocked all characters and all alternate outifts.
done all fatals, love hsu hao's and scorpion's, prolly the best ones.
ive bought about 82% of the krypt. the game is kick-ass.
test your might and sight are good, and a great way to earn koins.
pit fatals wouldve been nice, even if it was one stage.Thats prolly my only nag about the game. krypt is an excellent koncept.
