Hello,

I was wondering how amny different versions there are of MKT ?

I can;t seem to find a good one. the PS1 version is buggy on the PS2, the N64 rom doesnt run very well and the PC version has lots of sounds problems and majorly pixelated graphics.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

Get Greatest Hits MKT and go buy a PSone.

The PC version has graphics that are all but identical to the PSX version, but the gameplay is not as good. The sound issues you refer to must be something unique to certain comps as I have it and the sounds are fantastic. The N64 version is just terrible (hacked up gameplay, poor quality graphics and fewer characters).

The PC version is by far the best I've heard for sound, and graphics. Especially if you have an excellent graphics accelarator card. Couple of tidbits to mention about a few glitches. In the PS1 version of MKT, Cyrax's Hellicopter Fatality always produces black blood. In the PC version this glitch is non existant, and every blood matches the right fighter in the fatalities. Like whoever has green, or black, or red blood will have that color in the Fatalities. The PS1 also had a small problem with that. Another problem was the missing blood from Baraka's Blade Lift Fatality in the PS1 version, which is in the PC version. Some of the missing crunch noises are in the PC version. Trust me, the PC is the way to go.

Those are some minor glitches. The graphics are not far better since they are the same resolution as MKT for PSX, since the PC version is really a port of the PSX version.

I personally think the sacrifices in gameplay quality for the PC makes MKT for PSX worth it as it is a more refined, more true to Arcade UMK3 version of the game.

Greatest Hits was the final version released for PSX. There was also another previous version that was basically good to go plus the really buggy one which was more like N64.

What exactly is the difference in gameplay between PC/PSX versions. I've always thought that the gameplay on the PC version was abit "sloppy" if you know what i mean, i found that PC MK3 felt alot tighter when playing.

PC MK3 was simply awesome. Its a shame that its compatibility sucked though. It had to be by far the best non-arcade version of MK3.

PC MKT is flightier, easier to get combos with especially in the corner because gravity seems to be turned down a notch compared to UMK3 or GH MKT for PSX. It was still pretty good though, it wasn't like a horrible version of the game that was completely and utterly broken, it was just off a bit and thus easier to get big damage combos in.

I'm going to see if I can find a patch or something that will let me run my MK3 on here. It really is the best port of any home version of MK.

I still wish they used the same engine for PC MKT as they did for PC MK3, that would've been so sweet smile

Yeah I keep forgetting about that, I think I downloaded it, but I'll need some help setting it up so next time you're on we can check it out.

It's a shame they didn't bother trying to make MKT for PC better. They had virtually no limitations, they could have gone with arcade quality everything, no visible loading, etc, but they took the easy way out and just recycled everything from PSX.

I'm half tempted to get this GH version of MKT, but I'm so spoiled by the PC version now. No load times, that badass MKT Trainer, and I don't have to disconnect my X-Arcade from the PC. Ah, choices...

What's the most simple test to perform, to see if my organge PSX MKT is the fixed version? Because I remember a thread explaining that a few of the orange ones were fixed before GH came out. If it turns out I actually have the right one, it'd be pretty cool.

I didn't realize that the fixed orange labeled versions are not completely fixed, as I have played all three, and they seem to be the exact same thing, but I dunno.

Easiest thing to try is Noob Saibot's infinite. Do a teleport slam, then take a running step, hit LP LP, then try another slam to link to the second punch, if you can't, it's the fixed version.

Thanks a lot. So that combo should definitely work on PC... but if it's disabled on PSX then I have the fixed version? Cool.

And are all non-GH versions orange? I just assumed they all were. Or is it like MKGold, with the buggy gold disc and the fixt red disc?

Mike you had an orange fixed MKT for PSX, I also had the same. The version before it was also orange but buggy, broken and sad. The GH version is silver, and apparently now I have been told it has even less glitches and stuff than the fixed orange label. Also, I don't remember if the Noob inf works on PC MKT or not, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. All the physical flaws in the gameplay I believe were fixed, but gravity is still weird. Try doing Smoke's pop up combo, jump kick, cancel to air throw on anyone, you'll notice the timing for it is VERY different on PC MKT.
