Can anybody give me the full history of Reiko?
Try the MK Bible link on this site.

Storyline:
A general in Shinnok's army of darkness. He lead the charge against the gods but was killed in action. Mysteriously he returned and once again joined up to help Shinnok battle the forces of good in Mortal Kombat 4.

In his ending he walks into a portal, sits on a throne and Shao Kahn's mask falls down on his head. The meaning of this has never been explained.

It has been suggested by the MK development team that he may work for Shao Kahn. Many fans speculate that he IS Shao Kahn but that has been denied multiple times.

Reality:
Originally Noob Saibot was going to be a regularly playable character in MK4. For as long as the road tour and initial location tests he remained in the game. However at some point they decided they wanted Noob to be hidden instead and disabled him. Revision 1 was released with him in the game, but hidden. During the development of revision 2 they decided Noob wasn't working out and altered his costume and story to become Reiko. When Rev 2 was released Reiko was added to the roster as a normal character and Noob was gone(though he later was added to the home versions).

Ther are some points in believing that Reiko is in fact Shao Kahn.

1. His ending sequence in MK4 in the Playstation.
2. Some resemblance of his attire to Shao Kahn ( his gloves and outfit color).
3. Some people don't consider this, but also the ending sequence in the GB version of MK4. It says "With the battle over and only himself standing, Reiko returns back to the realm which he left. Once again as ruler supreme, he can continue the attack on Earth as he did when leading the assault in the last Mortal Kombat."

I never thought of Reiko being Shao Kahn, but after finding the ending of Reiko for the GB, I believe that Reiko is in fact Shao Kahn.

There's more information to the Reiko/Shao Kahn theory at http://tabmok99.mortalkombatonline.com/reikokahn.html
*Note: This is where I got all of my info from...

They aslo have a really great picture of Reiko with Kahn's armor on.

I hope we find out the truth of the Reiko/Kahn situation.

He isn't. The Playstation ending just shows Reiko in the helmet (and was only made to replace his shitty arcade ending, showing Reiko simply walking into a portal. And the gameboy ending was done by a different company, not Midway. Plus Boon himself has said that Shao Kahn is not Reiko, and that we should forget about Reiko. Most of the team don't like Reiko very much, because as someone said, he was a last minute replacement for Noob.

The GBC MK4 ending is interesting. The wording is so confusing and vague. It's like it goes out of it's way to say it's Kahn without saying it's Kahn. I believe the intention was to have the mystery of the console version without the use of CGI. So I don't see it as confirmation that he is Kahn at all.

The bottom line is, no one is exactly sure who or what Reiko is, so anything you read about him is opinion.

I take the position of the MK team. I think Reiko is a stupid character and everyone should just forget about him.

I do like Reiko,

the MK team should take the responsability of what they do, if they make a last minute character and makes an ending like the one they did, there must have an explanation.

They will probably explain his story in MKD

I liked Reiko but they really screwed him up with that Shao Kahn ending.
His original ending just had him walk into a portal and disappear, but someone who was making the Playstation home verison decided that was boring and pulled the Kahn helmut ending out of his ass because he thought that'd be cooler. The Gameboy ending doesn't mean anything because it was made by the same people.
Shao Kahn and Reiko look nothing alike anyway. Shao Kahn is like 8 feet tall, looks like he's jacked up on steroids and looks like a devil without his mask.

This is straight from The Kombat Pavilion.

Steve Beran made the idea of Reiko's ending in the Playstation and PC versions.

Midway did do all the enidng themselves, the company that released the game (which is Eurocom) cannot alter anythig of the game w/o Midway's consent.

No one at Midway has yet to state that the ending for the GB is incorrect, false, wrong, put in there by mistake, whatever the reason. So with all that, the GB ending of Reiko holds the solution. Maybe they might say that he is not really Shao Kahn, or they might changed the plot that either involves Reiko or Shao Kahn in the next MK (possibly in Deception or maybe in MK7). Until then, the facts show that Reiko is Kahn.

*Note: I did not get this info by myself. For people to think I'm stealing someones hardwork in finding these great info, I'm not. ]0MBAT got all this info. I'm just posting it to show you all a piece of the Reiko/Kahn situation. Go to The Kombat Pavilion to view the full story.

None of it matters any more anyway. The altered ending was a bad idea and Ed Boon said himself Reiko was not Shao Kahn. Case closed.

It has been said many times already that Reiko is NOT Shao Kahn.

Hopefully Reiko will return in a future MK game. He was once a minion of Shao Kahn.

Boon said that Reiko was mot Shao Kahn but was originally one of Kahn's minions. He also said that the ending was to add an elemental mystery to the character.
