Yes its a error or something not exacly sure. Its always scropions layer, the cave, jades desert, the waterfront ect.. then you get into the subway and streets its very annoying. I wish they let you go to the temple or the graveyard even with level select cheat with the cheat dat file it wouldnt take you to the subway or temple.

This is taken from mksecrets, and was addressed to ded_ by myself because it is completely false:

The "Scorpion's Lair Uppercut Loopback" Glitch

www.mksecrets.com Wrote:
Ever notice that you're always playing the same three or four backgrounds over and over and over again? This has plagued the arcade version of UMK3 and was also present in the PC version of MK3. Here's a simple work around. When you first turn on the game and start a one player game, you will begin fighting on The Scorpion's Lair stage. If you uppercut someone and send them flying through the roof, for the rest of the game, you will simply cycle through the four new Ultimate backgrounds and never see any of the old MK3 (unless you enter vs screen kode to access them). All you have to do is not uppercut when you first fight on that stage and the old MK3 backgrounds will be accessible. By default, the game cycles through all of the Ultimate background before moving to the MK3 backgrounds.

This is my e-mail to ded_ when he was asking me for glitches and what not in UMK3, I looked to see what they had, and I saw that and said "Nope."

That's actually not true. This happens in MK3 because of the stage rotation. When you uppercut through the Soul Chamber, the game now thinks you're in the Balcony so it takes you to your next stage in the line up, the last one, which is the Bridge, and then restarts with the Soul Chamber, the first stage.

In UMK3 it was fixed because even if you uppercut on the Soul Chamber, you will not go through the same loop as MK3, infact, the stage you land on will be the next stage when you play, which is normal rotation except for the Balcony, which in UMK3 you don't play on, you go to the next stage if you hadn't uppercut through. They just cycle through the UMK3 stages twice no matter what, whether you uppercut through or not, the stage order is always the same for the first 9 stages, and on the 10th stage you will always, no matter what, be on the Sub-way. There's no way around it, it's just how they did it. The reason you never see the other stages is because by the time you get to double endurance, that is the last time you will see a UMK3 stage, so lose on that, and continue, you will be on the Sub-way. You obviously see the old stages against Motaro and Shao Kahn though, but when you win or lose and restart, it brings you back to the Blue Portal, not that it's the next stage in the loop, but because the game has a set order of stages, and resets anytime you start a new game. In MK3 the first stage you play on is random. Also it should be noted that the Bank is never loaded into memory, instead it is Jade's Desert, with the Bank's music.
