What do you think was the hardest classic MK game to beat?

Personally I'd say MK3 was the hardest. I think the AI in that game is really cheap, and it seems like the second match is ridiculously harder than the first. Plus Motaro is a bitch to beat, because he teleports so fast, and Kahn is damn near impossible for me. Maybe I'm just not good at picking up patterns in the AI.

I didn't think Motaro was TOO bad. Sure he sucked, but compared to Kintaro... wink

I got real good at jumping away and towards Motaro (depending on his move) and running up for a quick combo set.

Kahn's a different story though. He's just a bastard (much harder than in MK 2 in my opinion). His fireball still takes off a fair amount of damage if you block and when I try to duck it he usually follows up with that body slam move. I try to time it so I sweep him, but it usually doesn't work. With all that being said, I can still hold my own with him pretty well. The only thing that sucks is the boss damage. Kahn (as well as Motaro) inflict more damage than the average character as well as receive less than the average character. If Kahn took and delt normal damage, I'd have no problem. One of his charging moves is easy to evade, just duck and uppercut when he gets close. That leaves him open for a combo when he first gets up (you have to Run towards him ASAP), so I'm fairly good at bringing the pain on Kahn. If the damage ratio were the same for both you and Kahn, it would be a little bit more fair in my opinion. wink

Anyway, for the hardest, I'm going to have to go with UMK 3/MK Trilogy. I'm not the best MK 3 player in the world, but I've become very decent with a handful of players. I can make it up to Motaro, and sometimes even Kahn, without using a single kredit. However in UMK 3/MK Trilogy, the AI is far, far, FAR worse than it was in the original MK 3. It's ten times cheaper. To succeed, you really have to rely more on 'tricking the computer' than actual skill. I mean when you run in for a combo, the computer throws you at just the right second. When you try an air attack, the computer counters with a perfect-timed projectile. When you slowly advance, or remain put, the computer runs in at you and no matter how hard you try, you can't counter with a throw the way the computer always counters.

It's honestly not very fun. MK 3 had a learning curve, but nothing compared to Trilogy. I can *barely* tolerate playing against the computer on Trilogy. I got so fed up, I actually bought the PlayStation version of MK 3 of eBay, and I play that a lot more than Trilogy. I think it's the better game too. The AI isn't as insane and cheap and honestly, 90% of the new characters in Trilogy aren't even all that cool. Not to mention the UMK 3/MK Trilogy Fatalities (for the characters that weren't present in the original MK 3) are WORSE than the normal MK 3 Fatalities, like Smoke's Scorpion Teleport move that knocks off the head or Rain's (or was it Ermac's) stupid ass Reverse Uppercut move. Not to mention all the moves that end up decapiting your opponent look like ass because after their hand falls on the ground the body just stands there.

I didn't get to off and rant like that, hehe. But honestly, I don't know what's up with MK Trilogy. I am consistently good at MK 3, but it's always a 50/50 chance with MK Trilogy. Sometimes I can turn it on and battle through five or six opponents with no problems. Other times I continue to get ass-raped by the second, maybe even fist, fighter. This is especially true with Jade. wink I don't know, maybe I haven't yet learned how to properly play MK Trilogy...

MKT since the AI is just cheap. They hardly ever attack unless you do something to make them. Otherwise they stand there until you miss them or move and then they attack. They play defense way too much for a fighting game.

Now for the bosses, it's Kintaro and Motaro in second. Kahn might be tough in MK3/UMK3/MKT but once you learn a trick he is nothing.

Tip=
1. Always say ducking and don't block unless he is right next to you or is shoulder rushing you.

2. Whenever he shoots that green orb just stay low and don't block, if he does his rising shoulder rush then just stay low and uppercut his ass. If he does his ground shoulder rush then just block it.

3. Once you pull off 1 uppercut, right away run towards him. He will be getting up and you can uppercut him again. Rinse and repeat. Sometimes he will block it but there is a certain timing to always getting him. When you run over to him just wait....like half a second and then uppercut.

4. Uppercut is the key to victory against him.

Mk Trilogy/UMK3 is easy if you use Rain or Noob Saibot. Rain: Use the control orb, lightning strike, uppercut combo nonstop. Noob: Use the no block ball and use the HP combo and LK combo.

Now that I think about it, UMK3 and MKT were probably tougher than MK3; I just didn't play against the computer in them that much.

One thing I found wierd in MK3 was, I could beat the first guy, then the second guy would slaughter me, then I'd use a different character, and I'd win, then get slaughtered again by the next guy, etc. I couldn't actually beat the game till I tried the cheat menu option to turn off blocks, and started abusing Cyrax's net.

Overall, I kinda suck at the older MKs; MK4 and MKDA are a lot easier for me

I thought MK3 was really easy to beat. I would use cyrax's net, and subzeros freeze all the time, and i would succeed. They work well against kahn to. Also, theres a very easy way of beating motaro using uppercuts. Sometimes you would just duck, he would come near you, and you would uppercut him. He would then fall back, and you could keep on jump kicking him. It may sound weird, but sometimes he would just stand there and let you do it.

I also agree with the AL in MK3. They could be pretty hard, but i realized that when i lose by them and challenge them the second time, they seem easy. Then the opponent after that is harder, until i lose and fight him again.....strange.

But the hardest MK game for me would have to be MK2. Kintaro was a biatch at times.
