Has anyone picked up the Jakks plug and play?

I saw that game stop had them yesterday, and I was going to pick one up. Then I thought to myself is it really an arcade port, or the lame port we got with MKD, or is it the genesis version as shown on the web site.

It's really its own conversion. I just got it the other day and got up to Reptile! :D
Bad things, no multi-layered ("scrolling") backgrounds. Music is a little MIDI-ish. The intros aren't animated.
Good things, sound effects are 100% authentic, they kept the arcade spelling of "Raiden" and didn't change it to "Rayden", the endings are true arcade-style and not dumbed-down like most of the console versions. I also love the MK startup logo! :D If what matters most is gameplay, then good, because the gameplay itself is arcade-perfect.
Hopefully this will help you make a decision. I recommend it, but others may be disappointed for whatever reason.

If its like the arcade then you have to wait until you see the shadows fly across the moon and then get double flawless and fatality on the pit without hitting block is it? I forget it exactly.
It'd be neat if they added new stuff like playing as Reptile.

I bought one seeing that it had "arcade quality" screens on the box...but to my surprise it was NOT as good looking as the arcade. The music, like Kombat stated, was midi-like, but the speech and sound effects were right on. The names in the lifebars were white and not yellow, also a different font (no biggie). The gameplay was pretty much right on based on the Revision 5 chip, but combos that shouldn't be like Liu's aaHP, Fireball, Flying Kick still worked when the kick should miss on that revision. Certain tactics versus the CPU worked when they shouldn't compared to the arcade version. It was obvious that they tried to emulate the same gameplay and CPU style as the arcade, but missed a whole lot of little things.
If the little problems don't bother you, then this is a good buy...otherwise, I'll stick to MAME and my PS2/Xbox ports which are excellent.
BTW, I returned my copy of the Handheld after beating it once (yes, in 10 minutes I noticed all of the various differences in gameplay).
I did not see Reptile, but I got a double flawless fatality (no block) on the endurance stage and did not fight him...so I'm assuming that it's the same as the arcade (shadows over moon after 40 matches)...oh, and there are LOAD TIMES for Shang morphing and Endurance matches
