Try to find something on the internet that tells you what you need from the manual? I doubt theres a way around that.

The only thing i remember MK3 asking for was the CD if it couldn't detect it in the drive.

If you have problems whit running DOS then do this: Go to your Windows floder. From there, go to repair folder. Then copy the file "autoexec.nt". Go back to the WINDOWS folder and open a folder called System32. Paste autoexec.nt into folder System32. Now try to open MK3. It should work...

Here is how I install/run my Windows 95 & MS-DOS Mortal Kombat 3

1.) I insert the the disc in the disc tray and close it.
2.) The "Mortal Kombat III Setup" window pops up.
3.) Game directory (Where you wan't to install/extract the files, the default is C:\MORTAL KOMBAT III
4.) I Click next and *Mortal Kombat III has been sucessfully installed*
5.) Restart the computer as it prompts you to do so.
6. I go to my C:\Mortal Kombat III folder and double-click "MK3w" and the game just runs.

I think he is using MK3 for DOS. The released it for Windows and for DOS in two completely different versions. The DOS version was unique and developed just for DOS. The Windows version is a port of MK3 for PSX/UMK3 for Saturn.

Yeah, that is true. There was a Dos version released and also a Windows version released. I'm stuck with the DOS version.

Back in the DOS days, before there were CD Keys, they verified the installation of a program by asking you to key in a word from the instruction manual. For example, a DOS program may ask you to do something like "Type the first word of the fifth line on page 10 of the instruction manual". If you type the wrong thing, it closes. Only if you type the correct thing will it continue.

The thing is when I purchased the game at the pawn shop it was just the CD Rom in the original jewel case, but the instruction manual was not included. I cannot find this instruction manual anywhere, so I was hoping someone here may have it and can tell me what to type.

It's not so much of a big deal, I have the PSOne version, however I'd like to see how good of a port this is and having it right on my computer would be spiffy.

I didn't know they still used that form of protection with CD's. Like i said above, the DOS version that i have only requests that the original CD is in the drive.

Strange thing is my version is supposed to support Win95/DOS yet there is only the DOS version on the disc, and it won't run under Windows at all.

Only thing that i can suggest is to maybe find a crack somewhere, seeing that you have bought it, it shouldn't be that much of an issue... legally.

Being compatible with win95 would be extremely different than being compatible with something like XP or 2000, since 95/98/ME are essentially still DOS based.
