If you hate MKT, read this!
MK1 revolutionized the fighting genre for being original. MK2 bested it's predecessor by bringing improved grphics and more fatalities. But what did the crappy MK3 and its ports bring us? Stupid animalities, useless Brutalities, a stupid Run meter, STRYKER AND SHEEVA, a half assed palette of Johnny Cage, and unpoplar MK2 and Mk1 character models with increased damage. Anyone think differently?

MKT is better than MK and the turtlefest that was MK2,because it has better gameplay than those,it's not perfect either but it's the closest to UMK3 in terms of gameplay, for fatalities,i almost dont care about them right now.

Actually, MKT didn't have MK2 characters with increased damage, they did MK2 level damage.
All moves did more damage in MK2 than they did in MK3. Because what MK3 brought was good gameplay. Run button made the game not a turtlefest. Better collision detection (no more MK2 death punch). Damage protection made it take a lot more hits to do the same damage.
Basically UMK3 was the only MK game that had actual good gameplay. MK2 was a 2 character turtlefest.
MKT took UMK3's gameplay and expanded it with new and old characters and added moves and changed properties. Unfortunately they didn't balance it enough. So, like MK2, it ended up with a 2 character god tier.
But at least UMK3 happened so MK could be taken seriously. Although MKD and MKA really did a lot to destroy any credibility the series ever had :-/

The run bar is far from stupid. It was actually quite necessary. It was the perfect compliment to the block button. If you think the run button is stupid then so is the block button. While we're at it, so are all the other buttons.

i totally disagree.MK2 imo sucked gameplay wise compared to MKT. MKT's my favorite of all the 2d games.

Why not just edit your original post to say the only reason you don't like MKT is because you don't like Johnny Cage since none of the other ways MK2 is inferior to MK3 and up seem to matter.

you dont need to be a high level player to see our point of view, I don't know why you have Cage so much to the point where you hate the game.
all you got to do is put your cursor on a different person.

how could someone hate MKT?
It summed up everything about the MK 2D History as best as it could.

MK3 was the combo that helped the franchise.
>=O STRYKER AND SHEEVA RULE!!!
Johnny Cage was half-assed?
>_>
The Run Meter was as necessary as the the other buttons. It helped a lot.

the only thing that bogs down MKT is the fact that being only released for the N64 and psx/saturn/pc etc. it suffered from hardware limitations. That is really it. All those took away from the gameplay. At the time of 1996 that was all we had at home so it was amazing. Now that UMK3 near arcade perfect ports are playable on home systems and we can play the actual arcade version on mame (legally of course!) MKT just doesn't age well in comparison IMO. I'd love to see the same graphic resolution on a new version of MKT like arcade UMK3 but it prolly won't happen. If they do release MKT again it will more than likely just be a port of the ps/saturn/pc version minus the load times. *sigh*

UMK3 is awesome and the best, but it's also not the ONLY good MK game, MK2 was a good game, MKA is the best of the 3D mk's...MK4 ehh I enjoyed it though but it's not the popular one.
MKT is a fun game, for the whole god tier and top tier gig there is no fighting game out there without god and top tiers.Every fighting game has them, there will always be characters that are more dominant then others.
