OK question... How do I record? Or is there a place you can direct me so I can read how to?
Erm, ok I just tried it and it looks like you can't actually record movie files from MAME
I recorded wave files so I assumed it could be done with video also but it only records what can be played back through MAME32 as far as I could tell.
So scratch MAME32 off the list. I'll see if I can find anything.

Yeah I spent some good time playing around doing certain stuff for my MK tribute video I'm putting together. And to just find out it won't work :(
I've done some searching on the net and seems like MAME32 ver. 0.37b14 and before does actually have an option for you to record in .avi file format. However... I haven't been able to find that version of MAME to download any where yet...
Also I've got to thinking... Is there a possible converter that can change the .inp file type to a .avi or some thing??? Or is that just not possible or some thing??
For my video I'm makeing I'm trying to include a little bit of every thing MK. So I want some footage of MK1-MK3/UMK3/MKT as well as the other games and the movies and whatever else lol. I know I can get UMK3 footage from a certain site if I got to. I probably can find some MK2 footage. MK1 footage is hard to find though... I'd much rather use my own stuff though if I can. Anyways thnx for the help so far.

EK Mame is the version that could record AVIs. Usually when I've downloaded it it hasn't been in english.
You can play and record input in MAME. Then, playback the input and use a program like Camtasia to record off the screen.

This page hosts many versions of MAME32 v 37 that can record .avi's:

The only downer I can think of is that maybe these older versions won't have options like stretching fullscreen or OPENGL but for recording a vid I don't think these things would matter.
Good luck mate.

Good news! I figured it all out and every thing. Thnx a lot guys for the help. Now I'll be able to make the video. Won't start on it till tomorrow though. If I'm not busy tomorrow (don't got much of any thing planned at the moment), then I just maybe have the video finished and up on youtube by tomorrow night. When it is up I'll post it here.
Anyways thnx a lot.
By the way this will actually be the 2nd of 3 MK tribute vids I'm doing. To view my first one go here :

Also just a warning.... A few people didn't like the song I used with my first MK tribute vid. They were expecting like Death Metal or the MK theme or some thing. Anyways the songs I'm useing for my 2nd vid are, "How You Remind Me" and "Savin' Me" both by Nickleback. (It gonna be 7+min long vid) I maybe will and will try to include the MK Theme at the end. But if any yall got any song suggestions of some thing meaningful then I'll check it out.
Anyways again thnx guys.
