Is Mortal Kombat 1 still fun to you?

I ask because Its been a damn long time sence I played MK1, So today I was bored and I dusted off my old SNES and poped in MK1 just for the nostalgic feel of it and I still found myself enjoying the game, Even though it was kinda bland and slower than the other MK games, it was still a fun game

So even though everyone here is used to the faster pased newer MK games, Does anyone here still find MK 1 a fun game or not?

I love playng it since i have both versions, snes and genesis i prefer the genesis one
I play MK1 via MAME/Kaillera and it still makes serious fun, sure the gameplay is slow, but against a good player it can be very entertaining, and tactical. More tactical than MK2 in my opinion, because the game is so slow, that nearly every mistake can/will be punished.

But of course it gets boring sometimes, 7 Characters are not that much =)

Like guslan, I prefer the genesis version and i still find mk 1 fun in a way, but i like the new ones more

Definite yes to this one. I think each MK brought its own style to the table, and MK1 isn't any different. It's a classic.

MK1 is what started it all. Of course I still play it. I found it to be the most "lean towards realistic" fighting game in the franchise. It is my second favorite in the franchise next to its sequel, MK2. I certainly cannot wait until Midway Arcade Treasures 2 comes out. Hopefully the MK games will be arcade perfect.

It takes me awhile to get back into it after playing MKDA.Im used to the game being fast but after a few minutes it becomes fun.

I like the genesis version because of the blood and the music of the choose your character is the same from the arcade not the cheesy one from mk snes

For the second-best Mortal Kombat (to me), hell yeah it's still fun.
Though haven't played it in months, I can sit and play for an hour any time.

Mortal Kombat II and 1 are the best fighting games besides Street Fighter I ever played and even when I turn 50, I'll still never be tired and bored of playing them.

IMO since i have the super nintendo version, its not as fun as it could be. There is no blood. I always hated that, maybe if i had the arcade version of it i would enjoy it much more.

Slow doesn't mean bad. MK and MK2 are far superior from MK3,UMK3 and MK4, in my opinion.
I play MK everytime i dig out my SNES. I have it on Mega Drive too, but i prefer the SNES version, because it's more arcade perfect, although there is no blood. It's the fighting that counts!

I tried playing it but it really seems too slow and clunky to me. I prefer the better control of MK3/UMK3/MKT. The increased speed and responsiveness of the newer ones is just too addictive. Playing the old one now is like playing Underwater Kombat. Everything is just moving so slow. I prefer the more aggressive play of the newer.

I notice a lot of people commenting on MK 1's slower speed, and I agree fully. It's actually hard to play MK1 after playing MK3, for example. But once you wear yourself back into it, it all comes back.

Sometimes I'm in the mood to play some classic MK1. But it can get pretty boring after a while. I use to be able to play that game for hours.
