Out of MK1-6 MK4 was the least I've played. I used to play it in the dying arcades sometimes but would mostly just cheese it with Quan Chi's stomp :/ it was like F-F-D LK right? lol

but yeah since I know I can't get an emulated version/arcade perfect version of MK4 for some time, I'm willing to settle for a port... so as far as features go, characters, setup etc, is MK4 for PS1 very close? Other than the addition of Goro? which I guess is ok..

I know people will say get MK Gold, which I could, but I actually don't WANT the extra characters cuz they weren't in the arcade version.

So how are the graphics compared to the arcade? Are they horribly different or are they decent for the port it is?

graphics suffer....the n64 version looks better overall but the psx has some better effects (fire and such) but its always fun to play classic games...even if the graphics arent 100%....i picked up a copy for 5 bucks shipped off ebay and i dont regret it....i do however have the pc version somewhere back home which i need to find

Try getting the PC version. I'd go as far as to say it looks better than both the N64 and PSX, but it still suffers from the drop in polygons from the Arcade during the porting--PCs in that age did not have the power to process that much data.

Additionally, any CDROM drive is fast enough to make it so loading is practically non-existant. The PS1 port had some iffy loading times, though it wasn't as bad as the PSX version of MKT.

From there, get a good USB gamepad for your PC and you'll be set with an awesome rendition of MK4.

If you got a Dreamcast, get MK Gold. That is the better game. PS1 MK4 is okay, but MK Gold is worth it.

I'm specifically looking to get the PS1 port.
Did the PS1 port have a memory card save?

That was MKG for Dreamcast that had a save function that never worked. If you insist it was MK4, you probably got a freak copy. PS1 MK4 had working save support.

But I still suggest getting the PC version...

You might be suprised. I had a P200 32MB ram laptop with 1.4 megs of VRam back when MK4 came out for the PC and it ran it quite well. It really is an extremely low requirement game, which is why it had such a low polygon count. I think they had a fear that if they did a good transfer of the graphics it would prevent people from getting it and playing it, so they just made the graphics requirement low, even when it was brand new.
