Is the N64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy really as bad as they say it is?

I have only played the PC and PSOne versions of the game, I have never played the N64 version. I am thinking about buying it used from ebay.

Hey man i have it.The biggest let down of the n64 version is the graphics and the sound isnt clear like it is on a cd like psx.I never played the psx version but it looks better. The best thing about the n64 is no loading time. And theres some codes where you can get unlimited credits and unlimited run. When you first play your like damn these graphics are awful but after awhile you will get you to it.Its better the snes graphics barely but it not that, that bad.

Graphics aside, they also butchered the gameplay of the game. In the PSX version they attempted to reproduce an arcade-level of balance with extremely similar move properties between PSX and Arcade. For the N64 they through it out the window and dumbed down a lot of the gameplay to allow for much easier, bigger, more broken combos and infs.
My personal preference is the PSX version. There's more characters ,better graphics and sound and you can play as all the bosses. Sure it has a loading time ,but that's what you get for using CD's! Plus I absolutly hate the 64 controller for MK. I'm used to the PSX controller ,it's more similar to SNES.

I own all versions of MKT. In my opinion, the computer, and playstation versions are tied for being the best out of all versions for graphics, sound, load time, and overall look. The Sega Saturn version trails behind those two due to the fact the game takes longer to load, and the sound seems a bit distorted. The N64 I'd rate last. Even though the colors are awesome, and play is smooth, with no loading, the music is horrible. The sound is okay though. The N64 is mssing a lot of fighters too. The CD Versions are all missing some Fatalities that the N64 kept. In mu opinion, unless you are looking to collect every MK game like I have, don't waste your time with the N64 and stick with one of the three CD versions. wink

The PC version is very similar to the PSX version. Its actually even the same resolution which kind of hurts its quality. The PC version is a port of a version of MKT for PSX, but not the final version so it is a bit more broken then the PSX version, but still a spectacular version of the game, especially since it loads everything but the music off the HD so there is no loading time.

Also, from what I have ehard, the Saturn version of Trilogy is very broken as far as gameplay. I'm not sure if it is as bad as n64 as I haven't played it, but it definately sounds worse, gameplay wise, then the PC and PSX.
