Johnny Cage/ Sub-Zero Connection?

In UMK3, there are two Sub-Zeros, masked and unmasked. This is strange, because the masked one was killed by Scorpion in the first MK. Also, if you beat it with him, the ending says that he pulls off his mask and reveals himself to be someone who was missing from a previous Mortal Kombat, and will return in the next tournament. The only person that is a male that was missing from UMK3 is Cage. I also read in an old magazine that the MK creators were having problems legally putting the Johnny Cage character into the new MK game, because of something that Daniel Pesina, the actor who played Cage, was doing. It is also important to note that Pesina played Cage, as well as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Reptile. Therefore, did the MK creators have Cage disguise himself as Sub-Zero and fight in the tournament? It would make sense.
Make sense? You are joking right? I must give you credit though, this is the strangest theory I have ever heard.. I guess I should take that back.. just to be safe.
Anyhow, the endings are always 'what if' scenarios. It means nothing, Ermac's ending said he'd be in MK4, and he wasn't. Cage was killed by Kahn's extermination forces, and in MK4 his story was that Rayden resurrected him, and apparently he didn't die in MK4 so he went on to MKDA.

Dude, nothing you just said made ANY sense. Johnny Cage was killed by Kahn's extermination Squad and his soul couldn't go to heave, because, of a portal to Outworld blocked the path, or something like that, and Rayden could resurrect him. That's why Johnny Cage was in MK4.
Johnny Cage disquised as Sub-Zero... what a trip!
Hear me out. The whole Johnny Cage senarios weren't put in until MKT. Midway was able to add him in then. My theory goes that they wanted Cage in the next MK, but legally couldn't have him. So, they cleverly put him in wearing a Sub-Zero costume. The story of Cage getting killed by the extermination squad was in MKT, not UMK3. I am saying that isn't it possible, that the masked Sub-Zero is Cage in disguise, since the real Sub-Zero was dead. I wouldn't think this if it were not for the ending. Whether or not endings are what if scenarios or not, that still wouldn't change the fact that this is someone is disguise.
Not another 'this person is that person' ordeal! Did you ever happen to notice that the masked Sub-Zero in UMK3 was called 'Classic' Sub-Zero? Huh? I just want to know where in the world did you come up with and idea that Johnny Cage was Classic Sub-Zero in UMK3.
What would be the point?! He didn't have any of Johnny Cage's moves, he was just a masked Sub-Zero, nothing more, nothing less!
Your theory is out of whack and doesn't have any sense to it. Just because they couldn't fit Johnny Cage into UMK3, doesn't make him Classic Sub-Zero.

what an idiotic theory...johnny cage...sub zero? oook
It's a nice observation, I'll give you that, but in the end it doesn't make much sense. First of all, Johnny Cage and Sub-Zero don't have any similarities in their fighting styles (Since when does Johnny Cage have freezing powers?), and having a 'Classic' Sub-Zero with shadow kicks and crotch punches would be alot more stupid and wierd then having two 'copies' of the same character in one game. Don't read too much into endings, especially ones for hidden characters, or in MKT. Also, in general, the canon storyline usually isn't official by the end of each game, but in the beginning of the next - for instance, we didn't know Liu Kang won the first MK until we saw it in MK2. And becuase we got Cage's absence explained in MK4, this argument is kinda pointless.

I had the same theory when I was 10, lol... But I smartened up since then... It's been 6 years... Hey, u know what? I think that Sub Zero may have came back to tell his younger brother about the upcoming war against Shinnok... Since Sub Zero's (Older) soul was tainted with evil, when he died, he went to netherealm, and was able to find out what Shinnok was up to...

I agree with crow.
~Crow~ Wrote: The MK Trilogy storyline is very loose. The game was really just a compilation after all. Classic sub-zero was also in MKT, with Johnny Cage. They can't be the same person... |

I have the explanation for everything:
See? Sub-Zero's return was very cloudy and mysterious, so people who have certain favourite characters that weren't in MK3/UMK3, just make up this theory that Sub-Zero is that character in disguise... But, It really makes no sense whatsoever.

I'll admit to this, at first when I beat UMK3, and read Classic Sub-Zero's ending, I too once thought, hey it is Cage, but I later said to myself, no way it is possible. The ending says he was missing from a previous Mortal Kombat, so we have to go back to the begining, go through all the games and ask ourselves; Who was missing? Going by the original MK game, and story line only one character comes to my mind, and that is the original Kung Lao. The story said Goro merely defeated him, not killed him, until reading a comic book about the games, that theory was dead. In the comic book, Kung Lao in all the other games turns out to be the original Kung Lao after all. After loosing to Goro, Tsung banished him into Outworld where he then met Bo Rai' Cho, and came back in MKII. So all this still leaves us to a dead end. Let us go to MK4 for a moment and look at all the possible suspects who could be Sub-Zero. There are 15. If you ask my opinion, UMK3 Classic Sub-Zero did not reappear in MK4 because it was the original Sub-Zero from MK1. Think about it. MK1 Sub-Zero's ending says Sub-Zero was a paid a large sum of money by one of Tsung's deadliest enemies, which in MKM, and MKDA we learn it is Quan Chi. I think Sub-Zero made a deal with Quan Chi, and Scorpion killed an imposter Sub-Zero, that is why Scorpion could not pass to his hall of fame in his clan. He never killed the original Sub-Zero. That is the theory I came up with. Sorry for being so long.

I just took his UMK3 ending to mean he was the MK1 Sub-Zero returning.
I assumed that when he removed his mask, it was a skull (like Scorpion) so that's why everyone was shocked.
It couldn't be Johnny Cage, because Classic Sub-Zero's ending says he was killed in the first tournament. Sub-Zero was killed in the first tournament by Scorpion, but Johnny Cage wasn't killed until later.
