i dont know,i think it was just to put a mark on the pants like "nike" or something like that,nothing too special about that.

The writing says:



It's a manufacturer of specialized sports gear, mainly footwear though. The writing was removed simply due to the legal issues.

And it does still appear on Cage's pant leg if Shang steals his soul in the arcade. I guess they just didn't feel like redoing those frames of animation.
