some of the missions in konquest are a real pain.and,no,you can't play mokap or blaze in konquest.

Its probobly because you were familiar with Scorpion, but you are not familiar with the characters you are trying to do it with now, try and get familiar with those characters too.

when i went through the first time, i had saved Nitara for last, for no real reason and i thought it was hard as crap!!! it took me quite a few matches to beat the 10th mission with her. part of the reason is probably because i suck at the game for the most part in comparison to probably 95% of the players on this board. the second time however, i played her missions first to get them out of the way and absolutely crushed her. now this means that i was either having a really off night, or maybe the difficulty does go up as you proceed through konquest. i don't know that i actually helped answer your question, but that was my own personal experience with konquest mode. It's most likely similar to arcade mode as the difficulty goes up as you progress. Not sure if you were aware, but check your difficulty setting in options. This does effect konquest as well!
