I was sorely dissapointed when I heard the original classic, Mortal Kombat, was dumped from MAT2. I think many of you feel the same way about me and I know it's been attempted before, but is there any chance that the MK Kommunity can sign a petition stating a no purchase of MAT2 unless MK1 is included? For those of you interested reply.

Not dumping on you. But I remember when people used to say they'd pay full price for MK1 or MK2 arcade versions on console. Now MK1 is dumped from the collection, everyone is screaming ripoff.

Not to sound mean, but can't you guys just get over it already? A petition isn't going to do any good. Name one petition that has made a company reverse a decision. If you want MK1 so bad, buy the MKD Kollector's Edition/Premium Pack. It's worth the extra ten bucks. For you one console owners, BUY ALL THREE CONSOLES. That way, you can't miss out on anything. PS2 and X-Box are nothing but $149.99 now (compared to the $299.99 when they first came out), and GC is nothing but $99.99 (compared to the $199.99 when it first came out). If you are THAT impatient, get MAME and download the MK1 ROM. That will hold you over until the MKD Kollector's Edition/Premium Pack come out. That ends my rant. I know I'll have all three MKs for X-Box come October.

Fors us poor students, its just not that simple. I only own and can afford to own for the time being, a GameCube so its damn bloody annoying that MK1 has been made exclusive to a collector's edition not available on the console in the first place.

i think the reason why they didnt put mk1 on the list is because theyre putting it on mortal kombat deception collectors edition. Besides theyre still gonna put mk2 and mk3 on the list.

MK1 isn't THAT great. I don't see the problem of switching MK1 from MAT2 to MKD Premium Pack/Kollector's Edition, actually it's a great move by Midway.

Maybe for you it's too easy saying that. In Brazil, Play2 is about US$300, X-Box is about US$334 and GC is about US$167. Games here are expensive, MKDeception will be probably something like US$80. It's not that simple for me to buy a Play2 / X-Box PLUS collector's edition PLUS MACT2. And it took me two years to buy a GC, MKDA and a memory card. I don't have all that money.

This is by no means a smart move by Midway.

First of all, Gamecube owners are getting totally spit on. As if the announcement of MK:D not appearing on the GC wasn't bad enough, now they're getting the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 compilation without MK1. So.. no new MK, and no original MK. I honestly feel bad for them. However, it is their fault that they bought the GameCube in the first place. hahaha

But here's the other thing. Obviously, there are only going to be so many of the Special Edition packages of MK:D made. So once they're gone, they're gone. And all the MK fans who didn't buy the Special Edition bundles are going to have to suffer because Midway can't get their sh!t straight. And that's just absolutely retarded.

They really need to hire some more intelligent and business saavy people at Midway, because this isn't the wise thing to do in this situation at all. Everybody knows that they'd make more money in the long-run with MAT2 than they would with a Special Edition MK:Deception bundle. Unless they were to manufacture like.. say, 20 million copies of the Special Edition. But that won't happen.

After this happening, i wouldn't put it past Midway to release an updated version of MAT2 with MK1 after all the Special Edition MK:D copies are sold.

You guys need to stop worrying.

There was a post at the IGN boards last week, where some Gamecube gamer emailed Midway about MAT2 not having MK1 anymore, and got a reply back stating something to the effect of:

"You will see later this month when the official announcement comes out that Gamecubers will have a way of getting MK1"

So I wouldn't scream DEATH TO MIDWAY yet...

Subject: The retraction of a title?? Scorn??

Hello there.

I am just writing, in regards to the recent announcement of the classic title, Mortal Kombat, being removed from your you Arcade Treasures 2 compilation disc.

I fully understand the positive impact it will have on sales of the Premium Packs, on the Playstation 2, and XBox releases of MK Deception, but I'm a little hurt.

Alright, I'm REALLY hurt! I am a PROUD owner of a Nintendo GameCube. Not only will I not be getting MK Deception,...I am also forced to live without the keystone of the series, on my pre-ordered Midway's Arcade Treasures 2 disc.

I do own the other 2 systems, although, I take things very personally. As do most gamers. I will not be purchasing either rendition of Deception, based solely on the fact that you have screwed GameCube owners again.

I know you have to pay the bills. I know that the PS2 is a cash cow. I know Microsoft has a fabulous online setup, to fully exploit every aspect of your game.

It's just,....you are selling a compilation disc. It is supposed to represent your finest moments, in videogame history. Would it really kill you to grant us Cube owners one last wish?? To go out with a bang??

Well, I'm sure your secretary will just delete this, so I won't wait by my inbox for a response. So,... secretary,... hear this!

I have been a Midway fan since I figured out how to flip a milk crate over, to play Rampage, when I was just 6 years old. (My mom took a picture!) I have also been a Nintendo fan, since Mario, on my dad's Atari. Both companies have fulfilled my every want, and desire, and even created yearnings for stuff I've never dreamed of.

Nintendo has never let me down! When sales were sluggish, when backers backed out, they were there. Can you say the same for yourselves?? I think not.

You took the survey approach. You took current fads, and pop-culture, and oozed it all over your potentially great games. Upping the maturity, and subtracting the most envigorating elements, just to make a buck.

BUT!!!! I still bought your games, because of the nostalgia, that enveloped me, everytime I saw a preview, or a screenshot. I thought, `This could be it,..their return to wonderful games.' Well, it hasn't happened yet.

Unfortunately, this has broken my back. I will no longer support you. I will no longer promote, or endorse anything that you produce. This is hitting me very hard.

I have talked AT LEAST, twenty people, into pre-ordering MAT2, for the GameCube, and I can assure you, that they networked at least a quarter of that afrterwards. You know how it works,.....1 person, can influence thousands.

I don't want you to take this as a threat. I just want justice. Please, give us back our Mortal Kombat on the GAMECUBE. Otherwise, we will have n other means of playing it.

Thanks for your time.

Michael.

Alright, now here's what he wrote back:

Michael,

The secretary let this one through fyi, stay tuned. Later this month, you’ll learn that GCN owners will, indeed, have a chance to get their hands on the original MK. J

Take care and keep the Midway flag high!

I think it would be great if you could unlock Mortal Kombat 1 in the Krypt on MK: Deception, and it would also be a very, very expensive coffin.

There has been one company to do this at least twice that I know of. Even though it has nothing to do with MK, I'll still mention it. Paramount listened to petitions reguarding the Friday The 13th Box Set. The first petition was to actualy release it, and the other petition was to change the look of the artwork. Both petitions were started by avid fans, and Paramount changed based on the petitions. Back on the subject of this post. Gamecube owners will not get MK1 that is true, and in my opinon who cares. Nintendo spit on the first MK anyway, doesn't anyone remember? SNES MK1 had no blood, but it did have violence. The reason I think Nintendo isn't getting MK1 is because of Nintendo's decision to not allow the blood in it the first time. Nintendo however has upset me a lot including of what happened with MK1. Nintendo never had any backward compatible systmes, and they were always changing their systems too early, and now rumor has it another home system (not the DS) is coming out very soon. Nintendo should do what Sega does now, and that is make nothing but games. That's just my opinion.
