MKT - come on it had all the characters from MK1-UMK3 including classic altrernate forms with four of the characters. It also had bosses usable from the start and a far more improved Johnny Cage, Not to mention Rain and Noob Saibot.

UMK3 - Arcade version - I remember when I used to go to one specific barber shop just to see someone play it. It was jun to watch and play. It had crisp sound and graphics.

MK2 - This game really set the mood and atmosphere for Mortal Kombat. It made it dark, scary, intimidating, and deadly. This game I believe had the best feel to it out of all of them, just thinking about it makes you want to play it.

MK3 - It had my favorite character in it. I really never had a favorite character until this game came out. I just fell in love with Sub-Zero after mastering him (in a non gay moment of course). I only rented it for Sega but still had plenty of good times with it and even learned Subby's Brutality step by step without any codes.

Update* Oops I forgot MK4 - I liked it alot when I first played it in arcades but I got very board after while of playing it. It just didnt feel right imo. Felt too different.

MK1 - Was a fun game to play but tends to get a little boring at times if you are playing it alone. It was a fantastic game nonetheless considering it had only 7 playable characters. (MKSM will prolly have more playables than MK1 lol).

For me it is about a game being consistent as well as atmosphere.

MK 1 by FAR. Arcade Not only is it a fun one player game set on hardest level, but it is a scream with two players that know what they are doing. It has the mini games, the coolest secret, the best glitches, and lastly the realism that no other had to this day. The digitized characters gave the overall feel of how a "asian" game should have been. This is much like Kill Bill did for the movies. Can't believe so many put it in last place???? Also another factor is the fact that all the characters are balanced....paper rock scissors at its finest. No other MK game can boast this fact. It reminds me of the peope that prefer Empire over Star Wars, well they better go back and look again. Because like this example, the others just don't stand on their own. Even the cinemas and endings are better. Bow down to the original!

MK2-Excellent follow up, but with the beginnings of the cheesy humor along with the unbalance of characters. Is it just me or does Reptile suck ass? Kintaro rules though and Kahn made me drop a paycheck. lol As far as the 2 female characters, they really do keep this game alive to the mainstream. SF2 could only dream of the success that the first 2 gave.

MKT...why because the others are just part of this. By the way, go with the PC version and the windows xp patch...Though it still baffles me why you can't have run assigned to a different button then the *cough* main emulator we all know default. It really screws up the neo buttons look.

UMK3-while technically these two look better, less playable characters just don't make it.

MK3

MK4 GOLD-Though I don't hate it as much as others do, it was a dissapointment in the replay value. Talk about unblance. The airstomp from Quan Chi was annoying and unfair. This was the beginning of the end. Say goodbye to what MK was always meant to be. 2D forever. Note get the Dreamcast version without glitches!

Do you know that the PC version is a direct copy of an early PSX version? Aside from the slight menu tweaks it is the same thing with looser, more broken gameplay. If you get a chance to play MKT for PSX on an s-video hook up or on a computer monitor, it really turns into the best MKT experience.

It has been a while since I compared the two, but there are actually sprites missing here and there on the PSX version compared to the PC version. One such example as I remember is in Kahns cave. Though I don't have the PSX version anymore so it is hard to compare.

But lets get down to it. The PSX version looks like SH*T on a Arcade monitor....at least the PC version has more resolution. Believe me I have compared the two. S-video...screw that, how about a S-Cart instead! lol

Lastly the PC version can be played with a arcade stick as opposed to the crappy PSX controllers(which you have to go through hell to rig). Nuff said.

MK2: I didn't think it could get better than the 1st, but it did.

MK4: Even though a lot of people hated it. I thought the fatalities were much better than they are in MK: D.

MK1: First is always the best, right??? No not quite, but still very good.

MK3: linked combos were badass, but the game still seemed a step down from MK2.
