the special edition has the emulation of UMK:3.
I've also seen that there are three hidden characters obtainable by the Ultimate Kombat Kode. Once you've put in the desired code and unlocked, say Ermac, would you be able to save the unlocked character on the game?

I believe you have to unlock them every time you start the game.
