MK Anthology game
As it stands right now, the entire MK universe can be downloaded and played on pretty much any major console right now, and rereleases and "arcade-perfect" ports have been included as bonuses routinely.
But, still, to this date, there has not been a retro throw-back disc dedicated exclusively to older MK games, such as the MegaMan collections, Sonic collections, or even Final Fantasy collections.
Today's storage media, especially on, for example, Blue-Ray disc, would be no problem handling the inclusion of every single MK game from 1-4 with any loss of resolution or gameplay. Furthermore, as a fan who missed out on the Dreamcast version of 4, Mortal Kombat Gold, it would be nice to be able to play that version as well, with its superior graphics and extra characters, something I'm unable to do with my N64 version. MK1-3 have been given star treatment before, but not this game, or any version of 4 for that matter.
The whole MK history is one of intense fanbase and fan-loyalty, so I'm sure I'm not alone in the desire for an anthology disc containing the origins and evolution of this revered franchise. Perhaps it's only idle hoping, but it still just feels incomplete. Still, the games are good, no matter when or where you play them, and that's the beauty of the games.

An anthology would be cool. But it's also something they could have done a long time ago if they chose to.
MK1 through 4 would fit on a single CD. MKG could probably fit on there as well.

I'm still pushing for, if such a disc is released, bonus stuff for each game, such as Street Fighter Alpha Anthology's:

They dont come out with an Anthology came bcuz then we wouldnt buy Midways other games like the Acrade Classics series with old MKs on them. And the MK's are still selling frequently for the old systems and appear all the time in the present games (i.e. MK2 Shaolin Monks, UMK3 Armagedddon) so idk maybe they just dont see reason enough to do it. But suppose one came out, id be there to buy it.

I think it'd be neat to have as well.
Though one thing I think would be good is if they had some kind of unlockable "Upper" version of MK1 and MK2, sorta like what was done in the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology.
It'd be kinda fun to be able to unlock Shang Tsung, Goro, and Reptile in MK1, and Jade, Smoke, Noob, Kintaro, and Shao Khan in MK2. It'd at least lead to a replayability factor.

I just played Sega Genesis Collection, and there I got an idea for what I'd like to see in a compilation; multiple versions of the games. For example, for MKI, already playable would be the Arcade version, but by doing certain things in the game, you could unlock the Super NES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear, Tiger Handheld, Amiga, et cetera versions.

Such a compilation, is what i am waiting for since years. I don ́z understand why they didn ́t do it. MK Games on Arcade Treasures, UMK3 on XboxliveArcade,mk2 on PS3,MK2 as Bonus on SM,.....i am sick of this.
I wan ́t one compilation Game with Original Arcade MK1-MK4,online playable on Xbox Live & the future PS3 online service, maybee Mytholgies & Special Forces as Bonus. Thats what we need! Come on Midway, DO IT!!!

I agree with you, accept for MKG, they should have MKSZ instead of that unbalanced game. no wait...better yet MKT with no loading times and a customizable roster.....nice...
