Hello there. I'm building an arcade cabinet to house multiple MK boards. I had purchased this CGA->VGA video converter to use an old (but great looking) CRT computer monitor:

http://www.jammaboards.com/store/cga-ega-yuv-to-vga-converter-pcb-gbs-8220/prod_291.html

When I fire up any Midway game (MK1, MK2, NBA Jam), the video output to the monitor is all jacked up. I think it has something to do with the 54Hz refresh rate that Midway uses.

Has anyone built a cabinet using something like this? If I want to use a computer monitor, is there a better converter to use? I'm trying to avoid getting an old/heavy/worn-out arcade monitor...

any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

I think this website could be of some help, especially the forums.

It looks like someone already answered your question here:

Nevertheless, I'll repost his advice here: It is apparently that model of converter that is at fault; the old XRGB-2 (the light gray version) works better for 54Hz - the Plus version does not. However the version you need can be difficult to find and pricey, from what I understand. I hope you can track one down and can get the MK arcade games working properly.
