MK, Characters, Fatalities and Mood!
You know when the original MK was launched, the idea of Fatalities was 'GENIUS', the whole idea and the actual execution of them was great. (Who could forget the original Sub-Zero one? ripping the head complete with the spine from the body)
But I have felt over the MK series, fatalites have got sillier and sillier, most recently Quan Chi Neck Stretch? (couldnt they just have made him break necks instead?)
Heres the point... MK should be about brutal, violent, gory kombat, where the characters are Mortal and who have limited special moves.
Multiple fighting styles are brilliant, but special moves like balls of fire and impossible ice freezing showers should be left out.
The characters should carry out 'Realistic Fatalities' which are believeable, not silly ones which are funny.
All of the above in my opinion would make the gameplay experience even more chilling and darker. This I feel would ultimately make MK a SERIOUSLY TERRIFYNG GAME to play and not border far-fetched comedic characters.
What do you guys think? DO you see my point(s)?

I must say myself the fatalites in MK: DA weren't as good as the past MKs.MK: DA overall was great to me, but I think the MK team was pressured into releasing the game to get some profit due to the money pit they were going into. While I think the fatalites in MK: DA are ok, I am sure the fatalites in MK6 will more than make up for the lack of fatalites in MK: DA.

I agree about the fatalities....but as far as getting rid sub-zeros freeze ..i disagree..he wouldnt be sub-zero without that..its the non realistic special moves that makes most of the characters who they are..so i say keep the moves but change the fatalities

I agree. MK was NEVER realistic; the characters have always been able to do impossible things, and that's one of MK's trademarks. If implemented properly, these "impossible" moves add to the dark feel of the game. And regarding fatalities, while I agree that they shouldn't be silly like Quan Chi's neck stretcher, they should also incorporate the characters' supernatural powers, at least in some situations.

I'm not sure this is the right forum, since you talk alot about how deception should be, but apart from that i agree with you guys.
