MK: Deadly Alliance serious discussion
hi all,
this isn't a thread about graphic, fatalitys, mk6 speculations or whatever.
My question is:
Is MK: Deadly Alliance good enough for tournaments?
The "good enough" standing for the gameplay of MKDA.
Most people says simply that MKDA hasn't a deep gameplay, so it's unable to join tournaments.
The reason cause the most people says something like that is:
1. the name "mortal kombat" is associates with no gameplay & with deadly fatalitys. Those people says that MKDA isn't deep, caused by this thinking. They played the game for an half hour and fell that kind of judgment.
2. The gameplay isn't like Street Fighter, Tekken or what else. It's completely different to another fighting games and that's the point. It's not the same and not for the taste of those players who play tekken, SC, SF etc. (not all players, but the most).
I play usually MvC2 and 3rd stike and and i have to say, MKDA has deep gameplay.
Yes, i agree that is has not the same gameplay like the others, it's different, but it doesn't mean that the depth is on a lower level.
But what i've seen is that the other guys don't think the same. U see that in the evolution tournament, MKDA is not in.
I wanted to hear from you what you think about MKDA in tournaments on high level like the other fighting games and if somewhere are tourneys for MKDA, or was perhaps in the past.

Yes it is. As is any other fighting game. The more you play, the better you get. The better you get, the more people you can beat. The people that diss on MK for not having deep enough gameplay don't understand it. As if just because it might not have a trillion moves as other fighters, it means it takes no strategy to play. Which is far from the case. I prefer the way MK is simply because there's not 500,000 moves that you'll never use. The way MK is is you get to learn how to use everything in the game and therefore turn that around into strategy play. But it's a dead topic. MK will never get respect if that's what you're asking. But MK fans know whats up and I doubt the people who diss on MK for not being deep enough wouldn't beat me or many other people here out of 10,000 matches. People see the blood and violence and imply it's just a gimmick to cover up the bad fighting system. The fighting system in MK games has and always will be more fun than any other fighter in my opinion. It's deep enough to have dominant players and that's all that really matters. As MK6 will clearly show.
I so should of seperated that into paragraphs.

yes, MK became a bad name in the "tournament szene" and that's the decisive reason.
You have to know all the moves exactly the recovery time, tha range, effective pokes and much much more like other fighters and every figher is completely different in MKDA, so if you're getting to learn to play on a higher level, then you can start only with one characte cause it would need too much time to learn all characters on a very high level.
MKDA at least shows the fighting scene that MK is able to join tourneys and i think the next MK will give MK new definition.
And at least the good thing is that MK was always a good selling game, so it will not die so quickly.

who wants an annoying analogy?
well here it goes
MKDA is like pokemon
lots of monsters, all are different, u get more monsters the more u play, u need to learn how to use every monster correctly to win
note:i hate pokemon and all forms of anime(unless spawn counts as anime)

Well you have quite a strange analogy there mister_satan666. I think that so many people who don't like MKDA underestimate it and they haven't spent enough time playing it properly like they should. On one of the other forums I go to, someone started this flame war between Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Many people said that Street Fighter was better and that MK just uses the fatalities as a gimmick and that the gameplay is extremely choppy and slow. It seems so far that I was the only one who defended MK and I think that they don't see beyond the fatalities.

And what's the Drahmin Test your might thing?
Break up his 9th konquest mission, then play arcade or versus. ... but you should already know.

i was banned from shoruyken.com for defending mk. sf fans cant look past the blood and violence. i never did like sf. it was too cheesy. and it had a "fake" feel to it, and just wasnt fun to play...i really hate it when the characters say the names of the moves...i thought that was stupid. i think the entire sf series (all 56 games...probably more by now) sucked. thank god for mk.
