Well, I think that to make UMK3 works you need MK3 too. UMK3 game use some files of that game. Try downloading MK3 version 2.1. It should work.

Probably because MK3 was more complete. I am not talking about characters.

MK3 has that nice intro pictures, different bios pictures for each of 14 characters, also the ending are different (remember Shao Kahn energy blast through the fortress?). The ending of the characters are different of UMK3.

UMK3:
- dont have the history pics
- dont have bios for all characters (i think that only the 4 new characters have bios).
- the endings are just the versus screen images.
- also the ending, when shao kahn is destroyed is different.

Thats why I like MK3 more than UMK3

That's true about MK3, it does have all the cool stuff like pictures and good endings. But the gameplay in UMK3 is so much freakin better, I don't know how many times I've said that either.

In a sick way, I miss the hideously broken MK3 version of Sub Zero. Other than that though it's UMK3 all the way.

Umk 3 is the best 2-d fighter of all time in my opinion and its the most underated game ever.
