He is ranked number 6 becuase it is of the people's opinion who made the tier that he is #6.

Although, it has not been proven that he really is #6 or that characters can even be ranked in a one dimensional list.

It is my opinion that he is likely to be NOT #6 and that it is likely that you cant rank characters in a one dimensional scheme called a "list".

Blah blah blah...Tiers are created based on YEARS of high level play by thousands of players in hundreds of tournaments.

Baraka is ranked 6th because of his insane high priority jump kick/punch, fast sweep, and anti air game. He has advantages over every character under him with the exception of Sub-Zero who's ice ball sprite ducks under Baraka's Blade Spark animation and will freeze him...but Sub-Zero is just above Reptile for worst character in MKII..

Anyways I wanted to say to the thread maker.... Why does it really matter to you where Baraka is ranked? Just because he is the character you're best with doesn't really mean any thing as to how good he really is. Like in MKD I'm kick ass with Sub-Zero who is low tier in that game and still I kick ass with him. Or in MK2 with Reptile who is the worst, I still can compete at atleast a real good lvl of competition playing with Reppy. Reppy being like 4th or 5th I'm best with in MK2 doesn't effect where he is on the tier at all. I'm just trying to say.... You're best character can be whoever, but that doesn't mean they are top tier or any thing just cuz that is who you're best with.

That's the tier list, and I'm not really worried about where he's ranked.I just wanted to know the reason for it.

Wow I didn't think Liu was #3.... And Johnny Cage below Baraka?? I'm not complaining or any thing, just thought Cage would of been one up on Baraka. And Kung Lao.... again not complaining, but just wondering... What is so good about Kung Lao in MK2?

weird.... Mileena, Kitana, and Kung Lao are 3 of the top 5 best according to the tier list, but those are like the 3 characters I'm the worst with in MK2 lol! I've tried to learn Mileena but have had trouble doing her combo(s), and Kitana I never have been able to do her corner combo or really know how to play with her right. Kung Lao I know his special moves, but don't know how to play with him lol. I just find it weird that the characters I have trouble playing with in MK2 are few of the top characters in the game lol. I think I'mma play some MK2 right now actually... and play with those three lol.

If you are just playing against the computer it doesn't matter too much who you use. The tiers are more about playing another person. Mileena is top because you can fire her sai in the air really really fast. The game is slow so having that ability to spam a fast projectile is deadly. On top of that she can do monstrous combos. Jax can HK, ground pound and his projectile fires and recovers very quickly as well.

If you are playing for fun then just use whoever. The tiers are more geared towards high level play and frankly high level play in MK2 is boring :-/

bah, I don't really see the point of a tier list, everyone is pretty balanced.

Tiers mean less in some games than in others. In the case of MK2, tiers mean a lot precisely because everyone is definately not balanced.

Tiers don't mean anything to me because no matter the rank I'm fairly confident that I can beat anyone using any character.

Even against players that are considerably better than you are?

I'm not trying to sound over confident I'm just saying that just because you pick a fighter that is "top" tier doesn't mean you are going to win. By the way I can be beat by people that are better than me at the game, I just don't know any.

Yes they can be beaten, but it would be harder to beat a top tier character.

I really don't have much of a problem anymore like I used to, you just got to know her stuff but she is sometimes a bitch with a good player.

If you ask me, I love playing MK2 with the good players(they always kick my ass but still lol), after I got done playing UMK3 and started playing MK2, I was actually having alot more fun, the fatality's are way better, the music was better and every time you do a fatality's, it played this awesome ass music.
UMK3 may have better gameplay, but as for the feeling, MK2 wins. Overrated? hell no.
