MK:T for PSone

Ok, so i've been on this site a handful of times now, but i just got my sn. Last week, i got MK:T for PSone at Target for $10. Its my first (and last)MK game for playstation. This is garbage from what i can tell so far. Everything seems to take much longer to load on this game than any other PSone game, including Shang Tsung's morphs. The game actually stops, the machine buzzes, and then the morph happens. Also, the one button fatalities code doesn't even work for a bunch of characters. Anybody else experiance this crap, or is it just me. At least i know from now on i'm sticking to cartridges for classic MK games.

The load time is unfortunate. My friends and I always have to keep Shang Tsung on limited morphs so that it doesn't stop midround.
However, after playing MKT for N64, I have to say the cartridge is far worse. The cutbacks in quality because of the drastically smaller space available on the cartridge are unacceptable in my opinion. They took out a character, cut back on frames of animation and made the music and sound effect quality lower.
They also broke the game for N64, allowing infinites and enormous damage combos that just seem stupid to me. I prefer the PSX version because pretty much any combo or strategy you come up with on it will work in UMK3 for the arcade. This is because the gameplay itself is basically a perfect match for the arcade gameplay. The only really broken character for the PSX version in Mortal Kombat 2 Kung LAo. I don't know why they did it but they just made him deadlier.
As far as the one button fatalities, they definately are glitchy. But, thats just a silly little cheat. You could always look at a list of them and figure them out that way. Or better yet, get a couple of buddies, play lots of rounds of it, get really good, and realize the gameplay is much more interesting then the fatalities are.

The Saturn version is good? I never got the chance to even see it, let alone play. I saw one of the other MK games for Saturn and it was horrible and that made me give up hope. I remember random pauses midround for unexpected loading and stuff like that.
If Trilogy is really better for Saturn then PSX I'd probably go find a copy and get a Saturn for $10 off someone, lol

I've just managed to acquire a copy of Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the PC.
You dont even need a top of the range PC to play it (I'm sure it'll work on a Pentium 90MHz with 16MB RAM) and it runs really smooth. No waiting, no fuss!
As far as choice goes, this game is the daddy. There are tons of characters with their own finishing moves; can't wait to see them all! However I don't think this game follows the storyline too much. My guess is that this game was created for a laugh.
Shao Kahn is HARD as hell in this game. I can beat everyone apart from him. Beginning to annoy me actually.

yeah, you must of seen UMK3 on saturn. lots of hold ups in the game, but everything but the morphs are fixed in MKT. i also think that MKT on saturn looks better seems alot more sharper then PS1. its worth getting MKT on saturn if u can find it. i got mine off ebay for like 14 bucks. though, PC is better than all of the versions.

also after beating the game, on psx version anyway, it just locks up and you have to reset it. that and the 1 button fatality glitch, shangs load time, and the hard difficulty no matter what you put it on, keep me to the originals for the most part.
I'll still play with a friend though, the glitches are annoying though and ruin single player

Yeah I gotta agree with that. I had the PC version of Trilogy for a while and it was phenomenal.
I wouldn't be suprised if the PSX version looked less sharp. PSX had jpeg decompression hardware so they were probably all slightly lower quality jpeg images instead of full quality. But, I can't complain, I friggin love MKT for PSX. It helps that I don't play single player games so I don't have to deal with the problems a lot of people complain about.
