Can someone answer me the following questions about Mortal Kombat Trilogy for Playstion:
1. Can you select the original characters from MK1?
2. Can you perform the original fatalities of the characters from MK1?
3. Is there the stages and music from MK1?
4. Does Trilogy have all its own cheats?
5. Do any cheats or tactics from past MK games work in Trilogy?

(If you can't answer all questions, just answer what you can)

Also, if you can; could you tell me how restricting MK Trilogy is regarding moves, cheats and tactics from past MK games.

Thanks for your time MK fans. wink
1. Only Kano, and Raiden have MK1 versions. Jax, and Kung Lao have MKII versions. You have to press select on their picture to switch between normal, and classic versions.

2. Yes the classic versions have their classic fatalities. I think MKII Jax, and Kung Lao only have 1 Fatality though. I can't remember.

3. Some, but not all. The Pit bottom is accessable. Some MKII stages are in as well. Not every stage has it's correct music.

4. In options hold: L1+L2+R1+R2, and press UP. An explosion sound will cofirm access to the ? option.

No, only Kung Lao, Raiden, Jax, and Kano have classic versions

2. Can you perform the original fatalities of the characters from MK1?

The MK1 characters do have their fatality as well as a brutality and stage fatality

3. Is there the stages and music from MK1?

No, only the music from MK2 and MK3 is there and the music was slightly remixed

4. Does Trilogy have all its own cheats?

Only one cheat, the hiddent options menu

5. Do any cheats or tactics from past MK games work in Trilogy?

Yes, most of the tactics from Mk3 work

You are correct about MK2 Jax and MK2Kung Lao. Jax has the head clap but not the arm rip (because the arm rip had custom frames that would have needed to be made for the non MK2 characters). MK2 Kung Lao has the hat decap but not the hat split (again because they'd have ot make custom frames for all the non-mk2 characters). That's also why the Pit 2 stage fatality was taken out.

They also redid MK1 Kano's heart rip fatality, I guess the old frame's didn't look right any more, and I believe they redid his victory stance too (they just drew over MK3 Kano's stance).

I believe every MK2 stage made it in there.

I remember someone here pointing out that the "Hall of Champions" from MK1 was cut out because it contained pictures of the old actors... which makes sense. Possibly the same reasoning behind removing Shang Tsung's throne room, since it would contain footage of Ho Sung Pak (Shang).

And of course, Goro was in the game as well. His sprite was ripped straight from MK1, just like Kano and Raiden.

I'm not aware of any specific reason why the MK1 music wasn't in there... I'm just guessing they had to leave something out to save space. The game data isn't that big, but the disc used redbook audio which must of taken up the majority of leftover space.

I think a lot of the things that were left out were due to a deadly combination of laziness and quality.

What's really odd about MKT PSX is that the Palace Gates stage isn't in the game but it DOES appear in MK1 Kano's ending picture.

Hey, yea! I never noticed that.

How come they couldnt put in footage of old actors? Cause they'd have to pay them again?

It seems like that, the only old footage they put into the game was of actors that were still working with the MK team when they were making MKT. So there was probably some legal deal with it all.

Hey everyone, got another question: Does MK Trilogy have everything from Ultimate MK3? eg. players, fatalities ect. At first I assumed MKT would have EVERYTHING from the past games, then I learned from this thread A LOT is missing, so now I'm worried that things from MK3 and UMK3 will be missing too (I have MK2, so I'm cool if that's not included).

Everything from MK3/UMK3 is in the game, just not everything from MK1 and MK2 is in the game. Mortal Kombat Trilogy is just Utlimate Mortal Kombat 3 with more content.

What are the graphix like, in comparison to UMK3 arcade?. What should I expect in terms of glitches and overall smoothness?, I'm talking the PS version.

The graphics are all scaled down and frames are cut compared to the arcade. However, it is still very easy to play and enjoy. There are a ton of mechanical glitches if you are playing it on PS2, but graphics glitches are kept to a minimum, unless you play it so long your PSX starts to over heat, then there is an awful lot of really funny stuff that can happen.

Mike after reviewing MKT one night I came to realize that there's next to no frame hacking for MKT, it's a myth and the only person to ever make it an issue was Lex and well he admitted it.

Characters are 85% arcade size and maybe...50% visual quality.
