MK Trilogy PC Error Message. I Know It May Have Been Seen Before, But Can Someone Elaborate For Me.

Okay, I had to get a new computer, and I went to install MK Trilogy on a Windows XP computer, and I got this error message.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT
The System FIle Is Not Suitable For Running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate application.
Now I know not too long ago several patches were offered to fix some bugs in MK Trilogy for computer, but I do not recall one that would help install the program. Help!

I know XP has problems running older games, especially DOS games. When I upgraded my system from '98, I lost the ability to play one of my favorite DOS games of all time... "Blood". If all else fails, get the PS1 version.
