I read about the MK2 for playstation contreversy here a while back, and I dont know if it was settled. I was browsing on eBay and say this": http://cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-MORTAL-KOMBAT-II-2-PSX-PS2-Playstation-Import_W0QQitemZ8211989034QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What was the controversy? Whether it was real or not?

Someone's probably still got that link to the webpage of the company that released it in Japan. It listed the release date and the MSRP for it.

I have it. Not some bootleg, but the real thing with the box and manual. It is most certainly real.

I would like to buy it, but im broke right now, and I cant play jap games on my ps2. im thinking of getting a mod chip for it
I have that MK2 for PSX too (downloaded it years ago).
And I can play it on my modded PS2.

Its a pretty solid port, except that the AI is really easy to beat here.
Its very strange but the AI dont know what to do against jumpkicks and can get hit by easy attacks like Scorpions Spear and stuff like that.

Also Kintaro is very easy to beat in this version, he moves really slow.

The music sounds a litte bit different too, it sounds like Amiga sytle Midi.

And the whole color pallete ist very bright, and looks more colorfull than any other version.

Its really not the badest port but 150 Bucks is ridiculously.
(My MK II Arcade Machine has cost 300 Bucks lol)

Even though the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 version is flawed, it must be more accurate than this 1996 MKII port. Why go to the expense of modding and importing when you can get a better version for twenty bucks? Unless you just want it for collection purposes, I don't see the point.

I would like to have it, because its original. MAT2 is not bad, but it just doesnt have as much sentimental feeling as and original would have.
