I remember in the old UMK Trilogy Hack (That's now locked for whatever reason), there was an MK2 hack of the same type that allowed you to play all the MK2 characters and such.

Is this hack still available, by any chance? I can't seem to find it now (I think the link provided doesn't lead to the right thing anymore.)
