I didnt buy MAT2 yet and Ive heard about the flickering shadows thing from all the reviews and I was just wondering how distracting is it? Did mk2 on super nes have the same problem? I dont remember it too well so any help would be very welcome.
If you're thinking about buying this game, it's definately worth it. The flickering shadows are really noticable at first, but after a while it is no problem, really. This is the best version of MK II (besides arcade) that you can get.
The SNES version did not have the flickering shadows. It was a good version while it lasted, but MAT 2 MK II really blows it away.
Bottom line, if you enjoyed MK II for SNES, then you should not have any problem with this game, because it really is arcade perfect. Hope this helps.
Peace.

look out, here comes mk2kungbroken. hey mk2kb, your cool with me dude, we may have different views but lets face it, we both love mk, so that puts us in the brotherhood. anyway, mat2 mk games are good on xbox. if you have gamecube, its still decent buck lacking how xbox handles it, and ps2 handles it the worst. i've played it on all 3 of my systems and that is exactly what happened. xbox isn't free of bugs, and that makes it still below arcade perfect, but it has the least bugs. game is definately worth it if your sick of playing your snes mk2, or your sega mk2, which might i say, does make mat2 look "arcade perfect". especially mk3 on sega. miserable. making mk3 on mat2 look perfect. i mean the sega versions were just like looking at my puke roll down the screen, while listening to a radio station that isn't full tuned in. or even cheap ass atari quality sound effects. freakin godawful. mat2 soothes the soul if those games are all u know.

lol already prepared for him coming. i guess i could agree with you there. MK3 was done even more poorly though. prefer the SNES version of MK3 to the MAT2 version.

Regardless of where you post, or what you post about, what you say about me, if you think you're cool with me or not, it will never change the fact that MAT2 is less than what it should have been. I would never have posted in this thread because the topic is dead to me. Once you bring my name into it, it's a different story.

damn dude. lets face it, if your not cool with me, just because i view mat2 differently, which is probably the most retatrded thing to not like someone over. the arcade versions of these games are the best. thats how its always gonna be. but i can see you favor mk3 umk3 mkt games more than any of the others. so since mk3 in mat2 came off buggy, that set you over the top. also the fact that it was just mk3 not umk3. us people who only like mk 1 , 2 and the new breed, DA and D, aren't to mad. so i say forget this crap, and just be cool with each other. and bro, get me hooked up with some mk online, not mk d, but old school. you said you can do that right?

Didn't read anything after "If your not cool with me because of different views nonsense."
No I'm not cool with you because you have talked shit about me multiple times directly, even before I could, or would post in topics. If you really wanted to "warn" people you would have PMed them, and not made it a public issue.

Yeah, if you like MK2 you should definitely get it. LLike was said above the flickering shadows don't really bother you once you get into it. When I first got the game, I noticed them...but now I don't even notice them at all. I love having MK2 and 3 on my XBox even if they're not arcade perfect. They're still the best versions I own.

I know that man. MAT2 was very, very disappionting. Now that we all know that Smoke was removed from MKII, as well as Random Select, MKII is nowhere near arcade perfect. The onlplaying music of MK3 is realy irritating, so is the fuzzy music. On the MK games they aren't the only poorly done games on MAT2. The car driving game, I cannot remember the name off the top of my head, but it has huge glitches as well. Midway, or whomever is responsible for MAT2 needs to pull it off the shelves, and recall it, and redo it. It isn't worth selling to the public in my opinion. Too many bugs, and glitches are on the game alone. To the programmers, and testers: Either get testers who will actually sit down and test the game, and make sure they know every little secret to test to make sure it passes, otherwise, don't release it.

if your thinking about buying this game its definetly not worth it.
You can just download the actual arcade emulations of the games off the internet rather than buying ported versions of the games which:
MKII does not have
Smoke fightable
Random select
shadows appear dissapear all the time
MK3
Smoke is not saveable
Shadows disapper
backgrounds ripped from SNES MK3
Sprites ripped from PSX MK3
sounds horrible muffled (I get better sounds using midis fro gods sake!)
and it goes on and on and on, too many problems to mention.

No they're not. The backgrounds have too many colors to be from the SNES and the sprites are too big to be from the PSX version.

I think both versions are fine. The shadows don't bother me anymore, and I'd much rather use a PS2 controller than a keyboard when I play.
It's true, MAT2 isn't perfect. Comparing it to other ports (like the Genesis) doesn't make it ANY better than it is, it is simply not Arcade perfect, it comes close to being it, but it just isn't. Anyone who defends it by saying it is is just plain ignorant.

It's not a question of being ignorant, it's more like be pleased by a VIDEOGAME. MK II MAT2 is just fine.
Peace.

MAT 2 is definitely worth it if you are a Mortal Kombat fan. The flickering shadows, you won't even notice during gameplay. Whats important is you are getting the actual arcade emulations on a Playstation 2 disc.
The games are arcade perfect. Sure, MK 3 has a few sound bugs and flickering shadows but its definitely the best version of MK 3 out there in a form where you don't have to spend $500+ to get the arcade.
