MK3 question

I was reading something in some MK website that said Kanos fatalities were changed in the Mortal Kombat 3 Revision 1.1 or some shit like that. What did they mean by that? And also, I have also heard they changed Sonya's Freindship in some of the home versions of MK3 and UMK3? Could anyone clear this up for me?

In the first version of MK3, Kano's and I think Nightwolf's Fatalities were changed because they were immediately figured out by players.
As for Sonya's Friendship, originally she did this thing where she would swing her arms back and forth, then they made it so flowers grow from the ground. I think it's B F B D Run, but it's been a long time.

But why did they change sonyas freindship? And if I'm correct, Johnny Cage had different fatalities in The N64 and CD versions of MKT. Do you know details on any details on that one?

Also if im not mistaken i believe strykers friendship was change. The first one he had he have the whistle and stop and sign he let every mk3 character run by.And the one has now is the one with the wagon full of 3 mk babies and a dog.

Forget about that one. My theory with Strykers is that when UMK3 came out, they were in a dilemna. They had 3 choices:
1.Keep it with all the MK3 characters, and look lazy as hell(which they were).
2.Add all the UMK3 characters,or
3. make a new one,
which they did.

The correct answer is none of the above.
The reason why they changed Stryker's friendship in both games is because of memory issues. They didn't have enough memory to load up a bunch of different characters to even just run by on PSX, so they just had the male, female, and robot ninjas, that's 13 characters and only like 30 frames total. Smoke and Smoke don't even Smoke.
On N64, if they tried to have everyone run by like in the arcade, it would look choppy as hell, so instead of going the SNES route and cutting back by only having one character run by ata a time, they just made something cutesy and new. Just be glad they didn't insult us like Genesis and have a bunch of Sheeva barking dogs run by. It's gross.
In the arcade MK3, every single character runs by, including Stryker and the beaten character.
In UMK3 the MK3 cast runs by.

Remember Kabal's scream from MK3 Rev 1? They go into stun frames and just stay stuck in stun with no soul popping out or anything. Pretty Ghetto.

Oh, well i never played as stryker much, so I didn't know. But yes, I thought of memory issues on the consoles, but I wasn't sure if they changed it on UMK3 period or just the home versions, so I just guessed. But I should of known you would come and save the day, so thanks Kung.

Quintouple post!!!! Must have been that server busy stuff that was just happening lol.
Anyway, yeah, Stryker's friendship isn't that important, but it's interesting when they change things so dramatically. And yeah, the original Kabal fatality was sad.

Yeah man, what the fucks up with the server? Oh well. Are there any other dramatic changes in the MK3 series worth noting?

Things I can think of off the top of my head are just them adding combos and stuff, like Sindel has HK B+HK in the first version, instead of the 3 hit, and someone's pit 3 fatality the screen doesn't follow them on the way down. Cyrax has a double fatality glitch that I can't remember how it goes, and Kabal's animality when done without a Mercy resets the game. I can't think of anything else, I'm tired.

Hell yeah man, I'm taking my ass to sleep. Thanks for the info, but one thing: I am curious about the Cyrax double fatality. If you can remember how it's done or describe it, I would be thankful.Peace.
Another big thing about the first revision is that F, F, F, R is the pit fatal for EVERYONE.
Also it's not just Kano's fatal that was changed. Almost every finishing move in the game was. There's a FAQ at gamefaqs that actually has a complete/nearly complete FAQ for MK3 Rev 1.
Everything was changed to confuse and mix up the internet reporting, which was just becoming big at the time. It was always intended to be that way and was part of their plan to make the game last longer.

I had en EGM or Gamepro with all the 1.0 Fatalities in it when it came out. I went to play it for the first time, and had everything written down, and pretty much nothing worked. I was upset and didn't realize that a revision had come out. I probably didn't even realize the made revisions.

I just fiddled with 1.0 for a few minutes. With Sindel, if you do her flight, cancel it before she reaches full height, she will go right back into flight and get stuck in jump frames, you can come out of it and start a combo instantly on the ground, or just sit in air and block or HP, but any attack and stopping will make her fall out of the air like she was falling out of the spin. Very interesting glitch, I guess they didn't know what to expect at first when giving a character a flight move.
