I don't believe I've ever seen them work myself. I didn't spend a whole ton of time trying them but few times I did they resulted in nothing.

The UMK3 characters are easy enough to unlock. Once you unlock them they stay unlocked, unless you are playing online in which case they have to be unlocked in every game.

I forget MK3 smokes unlocking.

If you are, PM AceKombat, he seems to have some knowledge of cheat.dat.

If you aren't and you are looking for the arcade code, I don't know.

while we're on the subject of this, does anyone kno how to get the infinite time to work??? cause ive tried it a bunch of times on most if not all of the MKs and it doesnt work. What gives?

The time cheat does not work on newer versions of mame. If you get the Kaillera favorite .64 version the time cheat will work.

Thanks for your help guys, but now I have a new question, Acekombat made some cool Mame cheats for MK, MK2 & UMK3, I been trying to get the same affects in my Sega32X version of MK2 and Genesis version of UMK3, I was wondering what arcade version(s) to use in this process.

The home console versions are completely different versions of the game so there isn't much translation between a cheat for the arcade and a cheat for 32X. The only exception are the MAT games which are the original arcade games dropped on the disc with an emulator.

The best thing to do is look for other 32X cheats and see how they are done and try to mimick them.
