I have found glitches where Shang loads up the wrong graphics, but every time I've done it he has loaded up another character's graphics, not a discolored projectile. That is a very interesting glitch.

Yes, for PSX. I still have them recorded on VHS somewhere from back in the day but never got a clip on the computer.
