Ok first off, I have to say, this game would HAVE to include the obligatory exact emulated version, arcade perfect ("more perfect" than the one that came with MK6 lol) Mortal Kombat 1. For collector's reasons, nastalgia reasons or whatever, obviously it'd have to be in this game, if this game were ever to happen.
Now they could sell this for like $20 or whatever but I have no doubt it'd be extremely easy for them to make.
I'd want an arcade perfect version of Mortal Kombat 1, with 3D graphics. MK1 used digitized actors but the game is simple enough I'd THINK they'd be able to make 3D fighters with so many polygons that they looked like digitized actors. I want Kano to look like Rich Divizio in 3D or Liu Kang like Ho Sung Pak in 3D. This was a KEY quality of MK1, everyone looked like real people fighting.
So yeah, I'd want a game, that's all in the 2-Dimensional playing field, except with just all 3D graphics and backgrounds. I know it's tough for some to distinguish but to try and do so, you'd only be able to play and fight exactly like in the original game. Up would be jump and down would be crouch but you couldn't move within the 3D game field (Like in Mk4-6 or Tekken games etc you could sidestep etc).
I just think it'd be a great commerotive kind of thing.

I would much rather see an MK:D version of Trilogy but with all the original Trilogy characters, and all the new characters from 4-6.And Have all the costumes the chracter has ever had in 3d so EX:You could wear Lui Kangs MK 1 outfit or MK 2 outfit. And All the Arenas from Trilogy and mk4-6 in full 3d so You could move around/Sidestep like tekken and stuff.

That may be possible on the next generation systems, but the PS2/GC/X-Box couldn't handle it.

Yes From my understanding With Next gen Graphics and capabilitys it could possibly hold that much memory,if possible make a Krypt but you have to find SOme of the charaters, maybe some super unloackables, some easter eggs,And Maybe a better Konquest Mode.
