MK2 had good music.But if I had to pick it would be MK1.I love the select Screen music.

A couple of stages in MK3 have the music from the Wasteland in MKII just funked up a little.I noticed as I was playing 3 last week .I think it was one of the outside stages or the soulchamber/balcony.I also think there was other music from II.

not the arcade version of mk3..maybe home versions...
anyway mk2 is the best at every thing in mk..music gameplay fatalities....etc etc etc everything!!!

The music from "The Street" in MK3 sounds a bit like the song from the Pit II. It's not the same, but there is a similarity in the tune if you listen for it.

That is almost exactly what I was going to say. MK1 music is my fav, especially the select screen.
