I have a dreamcast and MK 4 Gold is going very cheaply on eBay and I was wondering is it worth the buy?

I am a HUGE fan of the series and own pretty much every other game (apart from MK 4 of course) in the series.

The reviews aren't the best I know, but is it worth it for nostalgia (sp?) reasons and/or because it's rare?

Thanks in advance.

Well, MK Gold has a great problem: the bugs. It freezes some times, some fatalities are changed when you do the trick to use one button, and alot others.

I like MK4 and like MK Gold too. It is really bad that this game was ONLY to Dreamcast. I am still have hope to see in Playstation 2.

Well, MK Gold has more characters, they have the old voices from MK2, you have the weapon select screen, they fixed the one button code to work with 2 buttons. The graphics are awesome, better than PC, have features that the arcade dont have (like floating lights in the prison), the Ice Pit, and exclusive backgrounds.

I dont like the control for Dreamcast, but you can play the game fine with it.

I would buy a dreamcast if were cheap here in Brazil. Until this days is expensive. I downloaded the game and play in PC with an emulator, but it is not good (no sound).sad

Ah, so controls are a bit of a problem. Interesting.

Are the fatalities all different from other MK games? (Sorry, I've never played ANY version of MK 4)

Is it better than Special Forces at least? :P

Anything is better than special forces. Forget that thing.

The Fatalities are good, better than some of Deadly Alliance.

Most of them are remakes from 2D version, but now in 3D. You have Scorpion Fire Breath, Liu Kang Dragon, Sub-Zero Head Rip, Sonya Kisses and much more.

Some people dont like the storyline and the new characters. They really add little to the story line, specially that only the event with Scorpion and Quan Chi really happened as shown in MKDA.

Shinnok is not a good boss also, but I find the game a lot of fun. The endings are FMV this time, not good, I know, but for a first is good.

Hope this helps, but I am really suspect to say anything. I like every MK game.

You have my good man, thank you.

FMV endings sounds a laugh and seeing some of the old fatalities in 3D is worth a tenner anyways.

I think I'll go ahead and buy.

Thanks again.

The topic matter seems to be solved, so I'll close this.
