What does everybody think. I believe they can do it(Midway). Is there a reason why they will not do it. I don't understand they were the greatest games ever made. I play the arcade versions on mame alot but it would be nice to have them come out for the xbox as a collection. Please everybody please post your thoughts and reasons thanks MK rules.

that would be cool, i hope they have another team work on it tho instead of the original mk team, so it doesnt take time away from mk6.

Midway keeps giving out excuses saying there is not enough space.GTA III and VC are all on one disc.So why cant Midway do the same to MK?If they do make a collection i'll be playing my xbox all day and night like i did my Sega CD/Cartridge untill it burned out.>:O

The only reason I can see is they are afraid of not making enough money off of it. There really aren't any limitations to the game being put onto the current consoles. They would fit together on a single disc and they all the systems would be powerful enough.

What are you talking about? GTA3 and VC on the same disc?

It's just stupid as hell dudes midway just sucks if they don't bring out a mk collection for the consoles. I think xbox will be able to handle the games the best, but come on midway release them and maybe if they grow a brain maybe add more stuff to the games. Like make ermac in mk 1 easier to get and put the kano transformation in mk II and possibly have goro in the mk II game somewhere. I think this would be cool. Please everybody post your thoughts for this post thanks

you havent heard about GTA3 and VC all on one disc coming out in October 3rd for PS2 and November 5th for xbox?it's true.Too bad Midway cant do the same for MK.But i think Midway is looking at a MK collection from a money type of view if they release MK1-MK4 all on one disc for $49.99 they'll probably feel ripped off so they may just release the games seperate either way i dont mind as long as there perfect arcade ports.
I don't think there really is a problem with the current generaion consoles handling these games or storage. Each of the new systems would be more than capable of running all the MK's. Really it's just a matter of Midway taking the time to get a team together to port over the games.
If it does happen I really would want them to be exact arcarde conversions, and not to have a bunch of lame new "secrets" to make some money.

Nope, first I've heard of them releasing GTA3 and VC on the same disc for PS2 and Xbox. I knew they were going to release GTA3 and VC for Xbox, but I didn't know it was going to be a set. And are you sure they are going to release GTA3 and VC on one disc for the PS2? Why? What would be the use?
First off concerning GTA it's a double pack there are two discs in one case. And secondly goddamit dont you people know anything about dvd's, you are comparing the size of an early 90's platform fighting game (I'm not ripping it off, its an awesome game by the way) to a recent 3D game containing whole cities. I am within 1000% certain that MK to MK4 could fit on one xbox or playstation dvd, and for the dude who said xbox could handle it better (being an xbox fan i am usually always saying this to those stupid ps2 lovers), but in this case the games are so old it would not make a shred of difference which console it was one

All true. And to emphasize the storage, here are some numbers:
Mortal Kombat 2: Size approx. 16 megs.
Mortal Kombat 3: Size approx. 23 megs.
UMK3 Addon (just the new stuff): Size approx. 9 megs.
I dont know the numbers for the others. MK1 is smaller then MK2, and MK4 is not a huge game considering they fit almost all of it on an N64 cart (which is tiny compared to a DVD). Even MKT fit on a single PSX CD with cd audio tracks for all of the musics and it still had room left over.
An MK Kompilation would take maybe 300 megs, maybe, out of the 8 gigs of room on the DVD or whatever huge number it is compared to the size of these games.
As for the power of the consoles, yes, they can all do it. They would all do it and easily. Saturn and PSX did very nice jobs of the MK games, although they weren't full quality compared to the arcade. But, the next gen consoles are a few times more powerful and would easily be able to make up the difference in power to get it to full arcade quality.
A kompilation being produced depends completely on the company putting the effort into porting them over and releasing them.
This is what midway should do, release Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, and Umk3 on one disc for $19.99. With Mk being back in the mainstreem people would probably be more apt to buy it, also considering the low price. Why release it for $50.00 when people have already been playing these games for years, and considering it will only be 3 or 4 games which are nearly a decade old most people won't want to shell out $50.00 for the product anyway. But I'd also like to see MKG on there also...only less bugs, then people who haven't played the old MK's can find out what has been going on considering they haven't already been here.

Bottom line, it's more than easy to fit each and every version of classic MKs onto a DVD, musics don't even have to be CD audio tracks because the sound on new systems is sophisticated enough to just duplicate the format and method of playing the BG music like the actual games, 32 MB RAM consoles can load up any one of MK, MKII, MK3, or UMK3 alone into RAM so there'd be no loading for those games. Trilogy would be tough to cram in there and it would require a lot of micromanagement programming, something they just won't put the time and effort into since this wouldn't be a huge money maker. 1996 was the last time something like was really tried, and that was Trilogy, as good as it was, looking at it now there's a lot of ways it could be made better, and I don't mean changing the gameplay. There are directories on the CDs for sub level audio even for when 4 characters are loaded up. The only thing standing in the way of this is laziness/neglect. If it happens, it better be perfect, and they better juice up Trilogy Mario All Stars style, if you know what I mean. I think a really neat idea DreemerNJ and I came up with would be an option "Make Your Own Fatality". Something like that alone could sell copies. SO imagine going into options, selecting a character, and being able to manipulate frames in a user friendly environment, create your own fatality, and button combination for it. Hell there could be contests for it. Truly sick. Yes...sick. Anyway time is money, money is not to be wasted in the minds of Midway, they made that mistake with MK4 and will probably never do it again. As fan service, it'd be really nice to rerelease arcade perfect versions of all the previous games (including MKT upgraded) hell even stick in the side views of the 3D characters from MK4 and throw them in there for MKQuadriligy...oh please someone stop me...now.

The create your own fatalities thing sounds preety nice, it would be neat if they did that. Image being able to use frames from mk2 and put them in mk3 so the fatalities don't look like the animators just use microsoft paint and alot of copy and pasting.
I don't think Midway has to worry about making money if they made a collection. MK1 and 2 are considered two of the greatest games of all time (1 just being for the controversy). I'm sure people would flock to buy arcade perfect MK1-4 versions. Put it for $20 and it would easily break a million.
