This news comes from my Mortal Kombat site - Mortal Kombat Secrets - www.mksecrets.net

Please don't ask about Isos, Sega DreamCast bios images or stuff like this or the topic will be closed.

Today is a great day for all of us and Mortal Kombat Secrets is really very proud to be the first website in the whole Community to inform you about this. Today the aouthors of ChanKast, the first Sega DreamCast emulator, that runs commercial games released a new version, 0.25. I was really very surprised when I loaded Mortal Kombat Gold and the emulator didn't crash. The game started. With this release of the emulator the game runs good with fps between 30 and 60 in gameplay. It slows down sometimes and there is no sound when you play (the movies has an excelent sound) and there are some graphic glitches, but nothing serious. The game is completely playable. I actually finish it with Kung Lao. Below are 7 screenshots taken from Chankast:

The screenshots are on my site

I hope that this is a good news for all of you.

Small request: Could you take a screenshot of the versus screen with one of the MKGold exclusive characters? I haven't played MKGold, and I wonder what their versus poses look like. That is, if versus poses for them exist.

A Dreamcast emulator! Fantastic! I've been after one ever since my DC decided to reset itself randomly whilst playing on it :)

My roomate had ripped a MKG rom onto a cd-rom, and it's alright.

However, despite the additional characters, the game still sucks. Many of the new character's fatalities are rehashes of old ones (or other character's), and some look funny (like Baraka's Blade Lift). Also, if you wanna be cheap, choose Sektor and turn Maximum Damage off. Then, just do his Teleport Uppercut continuously. Instant 100+% combo.Without it, you can usually get in about 7 hits for a normal character, and around 16-17 hits on Goro (you can also jump kick him to death, he's so easy).

Either way, although it's better than MK4, it's still one of the worst console MK games to date.

yeah I didn't fully read the first post.

But at the same time, who will pay for a Dreamcast just to play MKGold? if the game would have been released for the PS2 I would have buy it tomorrow. I mean if Midway doesn't deliver to his fans by releasing a PC version or a version for the next generation consoles who are still alive, they have to expect that stuff like piracy will happen.

I mean how long did we have to wait before they release MAT2? There was a market to play old arcade MK games online and it was asking for almost 0$ in investment because the games were already done. Hundreds of people were complaining about it and Midway didn't do anything. Some people who had this dream of playing arcade games online have made it happen and worked hard to do it while sharing the service for free and now Midway is bitching that they are stealing their money, maybe if they would have deliver to the fans sooner by offering an online service to play old arcade games this market would not be what it is today.

Yeah I don't think anybody is going to buy a DC for MKG. Although I do know people that bought DCs for MvC2 and CvS2.

MK4/MKG just wasn't good enough to get the attention or production that other MKs got. The PSX version sucked. The PC version sucked. And that suckiness is added on top of the original suckiness inherently built into MK4. Then the DC version had good graphics and everything, but had the additional suckiness of broken characters poorly added to the game.

MKG was just a shame.

The pictures on my site are directly taken from the emulator. You cannot run a game that is on CD. Dreamcast uses GD, that cannot be read by your CD/DVD Rom. You have to make a self bootable image of the disk. Don't ask how, use your imagination and... google. You also need an image of the bios, if you have DC you can dump one.

If you legally own the game, is it illegal to talk about how to put it on your comp? I think it might be but I am sure there are people here that know for sure.
