I have no idea! LOL! The only answer to that question I've ever heard was "It has nas" which I have no idea what it means.

I've heard of a hacked arcade romset for MK2. The only detail I remember is some thing on the Dead pool. I think you could uppercut people into the ceiling on the Deadpool and they would lay flat near the ceiling something like the kombat tomb fatality. It looked stupid and obviously hacked, but that could be the illegal version.

there are versions of romsets that were tweaked to make the game much harder as you had to fight kintaro twice and so on... I dunno if those are "that" illegal.

Well, you might be thinking about the various hacked romsets of MK2. There's a whole bunch of them on the net, made for running on MAME. They tweak the difficulty, change around the moves a bit (for instance, every Shadow Kick is a Red Shadow Kick), alter the ammounts of wins you need to face Noob/play Pong etc.

I am pretty sure there was a hacked rom set actually circulating around arcades for a while that added some stupid hacked stuff. Kind of like the illegal Rainbow Edition of Street Fighter 2. There was also an EEPROM swap, which is I think what others have discussed. It changed order of fighting, amount of fatality time, difficulty settings, and stuff like that.

Also what someone touched on is that there are countless hacked up romsets for emulators. I've seen them for Mame and SNES a few times.
