This is an idea that I've had for a while. I think that with the power of this generation of videogame systems it shouldn't be a problem for Ed Boon to make a compilation of Mortal Kombat classics like MK1, MK2, MK Trilogy, and MK:Mythologies(MK3 and Ultimate are not really needed since MK Trilogy covers them. The collection should also have an option to choose the original game or the tweaked version which consists of smoother graphics, and FMV sequences in the endings plus all the things that they couldn't add to the classics back then because of capability issues or because they didn't have enough time. The compilation could be called Mortal Kombat Kollection or Mortal Kombat Klassiks. I didn't add MK4, MK Gold, and MK:Special Forces to the list because they may take up too much memory and it may not be possible to squeeze them into the collection but if it is possible, why not. The more the merrier. Just a thought that I had. And no, I don't consider Mortal Kombat Trilogy a true collection of MK classics. But then again, that's just my opinion. Well what do you think? Did you have enough with MK Trilogy or would it be better if they make a compilation of the classics on today's systems?

UREIKO Wrote: If you're going to make a collection, it should be of the actual games and not the remakes. So it should just include: MK1, MK2, MK3, and MK4. |

Dude, you have MK1, MK2, and MK4 to play. MK3 would probably be one of the least played of the four versions anyway, so it wouldn't really matter.
now that i'd think about it, i'd rather play 3 for it's original effect rather than UMK3 or MKT, those were just repeated versions of it that got tired. anyway, this would be a great idea, to remake Gold at least with better graphics and no glitches.

Like many of you I would like a MK collection as well, but one thing people forget is Shang Tsung 's Morphs from MK1-UMK3. As many of you know the reason why Shang Tsuang couldnt morph in MK:D A is that a morph in game , a system has to get a lot amount of data at once.( check MK5.orgs E3 2002 interview with Ed boon cause Mr Boon explains in good detail why it couldnt be done in MK:D A) This Gen wise it would slow a system down, but Mr Ed Boon said nothing when it comes to 2-D images. All next gen consoles are powerful, but it is unknown if his morphs will slow down gameplay as Shangs morphs did in the PS1 version of MK3( I never played MK4 on PS1 to say the same thing about Shinnok but the PS1 is outdated of course). I have sonic collection on gamecube, there are no load times in the game (has you go to level to level) In the end I think it might be possible on PS2, GC, and Xbox to morph a 2-D image real fast.

Hell yeah, maybe they could add a few more things to each game, like n MKI you could unlock reptile(Dragon symbol in the middle of the select screen), and maybe in MKII jade, smoke noob, maybe even kano and sonya could be unlocked but thats just my opinion, alot of you probably disagree
The next generation consoles all have enough RAM so that the entire game should be able to be loaded into it. Therefore, morphing shouldn't be a problem. The CD can just load every character every time, but only load the background music and graphics that it needs. In this manner, the morphs shouldn't pose a problem.
I think one of the reasons this is such a popular topic is because we never really got proper home versions of any of these games.
Personally, I still play MK1 on MAME all the time, but my crappy computer isn't fast enough to run MKII with all the sounds intact.
I think that an MK collection would be a great idea. I thought that's what MK Trilogy was going to be, but as we all know, it wasn't.
It could be a $20 disc and I bet quite a few people would buy it.
