Scorpion- Once again Scorpion ceases to bore me, his fighting styles are very interesting and were easy for me to learn when I first started and great to use now that I have more experience. His specials including the classic spear and "get over here" phrase are all well done.
10/10

Sub-Zero- A bit harder to learn at first Sub-Zero is better used through experience, his specials are effective and can easily be utilized by beginners but once time is spent learning his fighting styles one soon learns he is very effective. His weapon although slow at times can become invincible if timed correctly.
9/10

Shang Tsung- To go along with his best look yet Shang has also cranked up his game. He is quick and quite powerful, basic combos can easily be figured out and his weapon is perfect for pure slaughter. He is very annoying to fight against and packs a full arsenal of fireballs and soul steals.
9/10

Bo Rai Cho- Surprised me when I used him, he is very effective his Drunken fist style fools the opponent every time and he is murder in his Mi Zong and Jojutsu styles. His specials include some that a man of his stature would normally not be capable of but hey this is Mortal Kombat.
9/10

Kenshi- Nice weapon but not as effective in hand to hand combat. A good player can take advantage of his telekinetic powers but his hand to hand styles are not as beginner friendly nor super effective to experienced players. When it comes to weapons, however, he rules supreme.
6/10

Johnny Cage- The movie star though not exactly my favorite gets the job done. Fast and strong, Johnny has proven to be among the top fighters in MKDA. His hand to hand styles are quick and have their share of combos, his weapon although primarily short range, is frustrating for the opponent. His specials, especially his shadow kick can catch almost any opponent off gaurd.
8/10

Kano- For a man that has died several times in previous games Kano is determined to avoid the same fate in this one. His fighting styles are brutal, Kano gives a full blast of strength and ruthlessness, if that were'nt bad enough he has one of the best weapon styles in the game. Dont let the name fool you these "butterflies" will not warm your heart on a spring morning, Kano is a bit lacking in specials, and his eye laser has bad recovery time.
7/10

Kung Lao- The hatmeister is back and ready for action. Kung Lao puts forth some of the best skills in MKDA, his hand to hand styles pack speed, strength, combos and strategy into one punch and his weapon style rivals that of Kenshi's. He only has two specials in this one but that is all he needs because he more than makes up for it.
9/10

Mavado- Mavado is strong and fast but can be a bit difficult to learn at first. He has decent combos, one being the "Forklift combo" which I find fun to perform. His weapons are o.k. though not the greatest and his special can prove risky if you are out of range when it is performed. Overall Mavado is pretty good, but there are other fish in the sea.
7/10

Quan Chi- Uncle Fester has earned himself a new reputation. He is quick and strong and, in my opinion, has the coolest throw in the game. His weapons like Kano can mutilate anyone and his specials are classic. Rarrrrrrrr
8/10

Sonya- Luitenant Sonya Blade is among the top fighters in MKDA. Now dressed in a decent uniform and not her yoga outfit she has also upgraded her fight. Kenpo is a decent style but it is Tae Kwon Do that steals the show, consisting of all kicks she can nail opponents both high and low and very fast at that, her weapons, not the best in the game but definately adds a new taste to the blade filled world of the other warriors.
10/10

Cyrax- Cyrax has not been the same since his MK3 days when you would only need 1 quater to beat everyone using his green energy net. His styles in my opinion are fun but rely on close range combat which is not a very reliable form of battle in MKDA. His chest saw and spin kicks are cool and effective, except for the chest saw's bad recovery time, but his bombs are no longer a force to be reckoned with, in fact, they are almost useless. His pulse blade by far is his best attribute.
6/10

Drahmin- His lack of combos does not disclude him as one of the best, Drahmin is an impressive fighter, intimidating, fast and ruthless, his throw along with being one of the best is the only one that pops the opponent in the air. He has a full arsenal of special moves of which the "ball o flies" is the funnest.
8/10

Frost- She looks cool but is not as deadly as she looks. Her hand to hand styles are quick and quite strong but combos don't take as much damage as how hard they are earned.Her ice daggers provide a useful means of victory but like sonya her weapons are not the cream of the crop.
7/10

Hsu Hao- Damage is his middle name, Hsu Hao is easily one of the toughest characters in MKDA. His hand to hand styles are slightly basic but very effective. His throw is the only one in the game that requires opponents to block low and his weapons work exactly like Kano's, which means they are just as deadly.
9/10

Jax- Always a reliable fighter, Jax lives up to these standards in MKDA. His fighting styles are both fast and powerful, allowing him to pound opponents faster than they can react. His weapon though they seem a bit small have effective high/low attacks which annoy the heck out of opponents. His ground pound, machine gun and piston punch all serve to make him a very good fighter.
8/10

Kitana- The princess of Edenia has slacked off over the years. Her role in Mortal Kombat is significant but she is lacking in battle, her hand to hand styles are surprisingly slow and ineffective, her true stronghold is her fans which may also wear out. The pretty kick is good for popping unsuspecting foes but the fanlift rarely works and had bad recovery time.
6/10

Nitara- Like Kitana she is a bit lacking in battle. Her hand to hand styles are slightly better than Kitana's but her weapon style is one of the worst in the game, being slow and lacking combos. The unicorn kick is often ineffective and the blood spit not very damaging.
5/10

Raiden- Raiden once again stands supreme over other fighters. Though not necessarily the best he packs a lot of power and his combos rule. His weapon is decent and his specials effective.
8/10

Reptile- Reptile proves to be one of the best fighters in the game. Being the fastest character Reptile can confuse and attack like no other. Both his hand to hand styles provide powerful and fast strikes and his combos get the job done. His weapon is excellent and is used in a wide range of attacks.
10/10

Li Mei- Also a fast character Li Mei is a great character to use. She is quick and tough, her sais inflict major damage and her specials can humble any opponent.
8/10

(I'm not going to bother with Blaze or Mokap)

Fatalities: For the most part enjoyable, although there are a few disappointments.
7/10

Stages: the best yet.

Shang Tsung: His character model is great, he looks awesome. He has a good storyline. He has a lot of special moves and his fighting styles are fast and great to use. His fatality rocks. I give him about a 9/10.

Bo' Rai Cho: I think the actual thesis of his character is crap, he's an ugly fat guy who trained Kung Lao. He's a filler character who was meant to be funny and...isn't. But he's a great character to use, his styles are quick and powerful. I also love his fatality. He gets a 6/10.

Quan Chi: He looks great and his story is good. But of the deady alliance, he's the second best excecuted. He only has two special moves and one is kinda useless. His styles don't seem to flow as well as many of the other fighters. And his fatality is LAME. 7.5/10.

Li Mei: She's hot. Her character looks great in several different ways. Her storyline is okay, but not that well developed. She fights pretty well, but is pretty useless without her specials. He fatality is kind of lame, but tolerable. 8/10.

Scorpion: This is definitely Scoprion's game. His storyline has just seen an interesting plot twist and has made him one of the main characters. His look is awesomely revamped. He is quick, powerful and easy to use, and his specials just make him all the better. His fatality is better than average. Great character. 9.5/10.

Sonya: Sonya looks great after she hopefully burned that dreadful green jumpsuit. Her storyline is dying for a plot twist, however, and the little fiasco with Mavado won't cut it. She fights well but not that great. She only has two specials, but they're both very useful. Excellent fatality. 8/10.

Kenshi: This is an excellent idea for a character. He looks great and gets several points for originality. He fights like a pro and you gotta love the telekinesis. His fatality is awesome. One of the best new characters of MKDA. 9/10.

Mavado: I just don't like this character. He's sort of bland looking. His storyline is mediocre at best. He fights okay, and although the hooks were a valiant stab at originality, they're still useless. His fatality is a cool idea but terribly excecuted. His character was a good idea that just didn't work. 6/10.

Johnny Cage: This is a very tired character. He's great if you can just pretend you're fighting as someone else when you're using him. The entire thesis of his character is just corny, and even his storyline was subtly poking fun at him. He looks pretty stupid, although he fights well. I for one am tired of him. 5.5/10.

Sub-Zero: Excellent. Sub-Zero looks great this time around. His storyline is one of the major one's in this game, and even though I kind of resent the way its going, it's still okay. He's a little tough to use but great if you can control him. His fatality rocks. 9/10.

Kano: Kano definitely looks better than before. He actually looks like his character suggests. MKDA does miracles for this tired character. His story is sort of lame but better than those like Johnny Cage, Li Mei and Jax. He fights good, his styles flow well together and his weapons rock. His fatality is one of the better ones on the game. 9/10.

Kung Lao: I always loved Kung Lao. He looks better than normal in this game. His storyline was expectedly boring, but at least it makes sense. He is a powerful fighter and his hat throw rules. His fatality is slightly disappointing, but aren't they all? 8.5/10.

Nitara: I love Nitara. She's hot and original looking, i love her alt. Her storyline is pretty lame. You can tell Boon just asked someone--"Quick! Give me a reason for a vampire to be in the game!" She fights awesome though, but her specials aren't that great. Her fatality is awesome. 9/10.

Drahmin: Drahmin is deceptive. Judging by they way he looks and his story, you think he'll be great. But he sucks! He has nothing but slow, awkward juggle combos and a boring fatality. I hate this character! I'm incredibly disappointed by him. 4/10.

Hsu Hao: I never had high expectations for Hsu Hao, and I was only slightly surprised. He doesn't look that great, and his storyline is boring. He's an average fighter. He does have the best fatality in the game, though. 5/10.

Frost: I love Frost. She looks hot, expecially her alt. She's sort of unoriginal in thesis but her story covers for it. She is an excellent fighter. Her fatality is slightly above average. Nice addition to MK. 9.5/10.

Jax: I hate Jax. He's a black male clone of Sonya shoved into MK for racial diversity. He fights stupidly, and looks even more stupid. His fatality is only okay. There's just no hope for him. 3/10.

Kitana: Kitana is hot in this game. She looks great and has an excellently revamped storyline. Her moves are swift and powerful. Her fatality is lame and redone, however. 8.5/10.

Raiden: Raiden is expertly revamped in the looks department. His story is a little worn through, however. He is a great fighter, his combos are powerful and his special moves are likewise. His fatality is great as well. 9.5/10.

Reptile: Reptile looks a little silly in this game. His look was revamped for shock value and looks like a slightly trippy version of Barney. His story is okay. He fights great, even though Crab doesn't really suit him. His fatality is cool. 8/10.

Cyrax: Cyrax looks great and has an awesome fatality. That's about where the goodness stops. He is a below average fighter with a storyline that took a very dull turn. Oh, well. Sometimes good characters go bad. 6.5/10.

Moloch: No disappointments here. I expected a sub-boss who was huge, creepy looking and cheap. I got just what I expected. No fatality kinda upsets me. 8/10.

Blaze/Mokap: They suck. They are unoriginal, silly looking, storyline-less, fatality-less, and have no styles or moves of their own. 1/10.

Bo Rai Cho - 7/10 * Some really good moves and good fighting styles. The Drunken Fists is very sneaky, although just not my type of fighter, and his Fatality could've been better *

Johnny Cage - 8.5/10 * The Karate style is very usefull with lots of good combos, he has a good fatality, but there just seems like there is something missing *

Kano - 7.5/10 * A good fighter, however I have never liked him much, and in Deadly Alliance it doesn't change *

Kenshi - 5/10 * To me Kenshi could've had potential. His special moves can easily be blocked, then leaves him open for 2 seconds. His only deadly stance is his weapon stance *

Kung Lao - 9/10 * Has some really nice combos and a good fatality, but he is getting old *

Li Mei - 8/10 * Has some nice moves but seems like they took them off of Sonya to give to her ie: Cartwheel kick, and her spark looks like Sonyas MK4 spark move *

Movado - 6/10 * Has really crappy moves that are useless and can be blocked easily. Fighthing styles are okay but his fatality sucks *

Quan Chi - 9.5/10 * Is a formidable fighter, has great stles and weapon, and if used correctly and damage anyone in seconds. His fatality is...well...you know *

Scorpion - 7/10 * Same old Scorpion, nothing much has changed, fighthing styles are okay, and his fatality is kind of boring *

Shang Tsung - 9/10 * Another great fighter, with great fighthing stances and very high speed, nice special moves and his fatality ROCKS! *

Sonya Blade - 10/10 * One of the fiercest fighters in the game as per usual. Her kiss of death special move is very useful, and if blocked she comes out of the stance fast. Her Fighting styles are amongst the best which can form very deadly combos...easily pulled off. Nice weapon if you know how to use it and an awsome Fatality *

Sub-Zero - 9.5/10 * Hard to get use to, but once you learn his combos he's a deadly fighter. His special moves lack a bit, but his fighting stances are great and he also has a great Fatality *

Cyrax - 8/10 * Cyrax seems kind of slow to me and his fighting stances are cool, he has nice very nice and useful special moves and his fatality rocks also *

Drahmin - 4/10 * Drahmin would be a better character if he had some combos, and maybe a better fatality. His special moves are useful and can be used very easily to take oppoinants out *

Frost - 9/10 * Very fast with some very nice combos although almost impossible to pull off. Fighthing stances are great, special moves are okay. Lacks in originality with character and fatality *

Hsu Hao - 6/10 * Can be deadly is you know how to use him. His fighthing stances are just Okay and his fatality rocks. He has some nice combos some of which can be hard to pull off in a fast fight with the computer *

Jax - 7/10 * Some nice fighthing styles and good special moves, if used correctly can damage anyone in seconds, his fatality is by far the worst in the game. But controlling him makes up for it *

Kitana - 6/10 * Very hard to get use to. Some very nice combos if you practice for a while, okay fatality but special moves kind of suck. Fan lift is useless playing at max difficulty as the computer always blocks which makes her easy for a deadly combo *

Nitara - 7/10 * Nitara is very deadly and has some nice combos and fighthing stances. I don't think she deserves a difficulty of 5. Some nice moves however unicorn kick can be hard to pull off, and has a good fatality *

Raiden - 7.5/10 * If used correctly can take out a fighter easily. Lacks in special moves meaning they're not that great. Good fighting stances and a weapon. Fatality is okay *

Reptile - 10/10 * Very fierce and very deadly. Reptile has some very nice combos and special moves. His lizard ball if done correctly can mess your oppoinent up. And excellent fatality. Great fighting stances and a good weapon

Shang Tsung: First of all, I must admit. Shang Tsung has never been one of my favorites, until now. He makes a wonderful return in the series and for the first time ever, he looks completely awesome. This is the Shang Tsung I've been waiting for. His styles are awesome, his story is great, his combos are among the best in the game, and he just looks so perfect. Shang Tsung has never looked better, and he has become my favorite MKDA character. Unfortunately, I'm not as good with him as I had hoped. His fatality is also among my favorites, but unfortunately, it has a couple flaws. 10/10

Bo' Rai Cho: I never had very high hopes for this character, and that's a good thing. He's a below-average fighter, moves slowly, is disgusting, and it's almost impossible for me to imagine him teaching Kung Lao. A bad attempt at being funny. The only good thing worth noticing is that his character model and drunken stances were well done. Overall, he doesn't belong in the game. 2/10

Quan Chi: He was originally among my favorites, until I saw his awful fatality. His character model is great, he's a great boss. Nice story, good moves and combos. Double Broadswords, great weapon choice. His costume looks great. My only complaint about him is his horrible fatality. 8.5/10

Li Mei: Her character model is pretty good, costumes aren't bad. Her fighting reminds me of Liu Kang's(fast and weak), which is a good thing, I guess. Her fatality isn't great, but her moves and weapons are above average cool. I must admit, she's better than I thought she'd be, and she surely isn't in the game to support prostitution.6.5/10

Scorpion: This is Scorpion at his best. Amazing costumes, great moves, one of the better fatalities. I love all of his styles. His story is nice, although his ending was a little disappointing. My only concern is that he's too easy for anyone to use, so he's not really a character to brag about. 9.5/10

Sonya: I think this is the best Sonya has ever been, but I'm still not a fan of hers. I don't like her appearance in either costume, although her fatality is surprising good, definitely one of my favorites. Her moves are pretty much the usual, her story is still dull, but I really like those Kali Sticks of hers. 6.0/10

Kenshi: A new twist to Mortal Kombat. His story isn't great, nor is his ending, and I found his fatality to be disappointing. His character model is nice, although his alt. costume is incredibly lame. I don't think telekinesis was really the right choice for him, but he is a good fighter, preferrably for beginners. 6.0/10

Mavado: He's not as cool as I had hoped. His story was pretty interesting, but he had a lack of good moves. His fatality is possibly the worst in the game. His costumes are nice, especially his alternate. Not a great fighter, but he puts a nice edge to the hookswords. He had potential, but he let us down. 3.5/10

Johnny Cage: Johnny Cage with a triumphant return. I've always been a fan of the guy, but still I think he was best in MK1. Now he looks like Brad Pitt, which is lame. His story and ending are basically the same as they've always been. Even though he's definitely a washed-up character, he fights very nicely in this game. His weapon is very cool, and I like his styles. But this guy definitely needs some big changes if he's going to be in MK6. 5.0/10

Sub-Zero: His story has taken some big changes since MK4, and so has his appearance. Sub-Zero has two great costumes, a good fatality, a pretty good weapon, nice moves. My biggest problem with him is that he's one of MK's favorites, and he's very hard to use. He definitely takes a lot of practice and dedication, which I wasn't willing to give with so many other good characters. 6.5

Kano: He's back and his return seems to be well appreciated. A nice new look and attitude. He's a good fighter, and his butterfly knives are among the best weapons. No new moves for this original character, but he's proved that he's not washed up. Good story, but his ending was a little lame(sort of funny, I guess). I think my biggest disappointment with Kano is his fatality. It needs some originality. 8.0/10

Kung Lao: It's nice to see him with a new look, but still I prefer the old one. His styles are very cool, and he uses his sword well, but not quite as well as Shang Tsung, although he has some interesting attacks with it. His story would be better if it didn't revolve around Bo' Rai Cho, and I simply just didn't think he was a great fighter. The fatality is nothing great, and I can never seem to pull off Whirlwind Kicks without getting my ass kicked, even though it's praised as such an awesome move in the storyline. 6.5/10

Nitara: Her appearance is great, definitely a very original looking character, although her alt costume sort of scares me. Her story and ending are rather weak, and I don't even think she could be considered an average fighter. But still, she's pretty cool. 4.5/10

Drahmin: Before MKDA was released, I thought I had found my new favorite character. Boy, was I wrong. Playing with Drahmin is like playing MK1. He's slow, and just isn't comparable to other characters. Not saying that MK1 is bad, but it's extremely outdated, sort of like Drahmin, in everything except his awesome appearance. A total let-down. 2.5/10

Hsu Hao: Well, I never had any high hopes for this guy, but he turned out to be a pretty cool character. He is very powerful, has cool moves, great weapons and combos. Although, his appearance isn't great, and he's basically just a side-character in story. He's not one of my top picks for fighting, but he's definitely above average. 7.0/10

Frost: Surprisingly better than I expected, but still, not much above average. She's a cool character, not a complete Sub-Zero clone. Her moves aren't so great, her combos are pretty good, but she has some nice costumes, and her story/ending is well done. Her fatality would be cool if I hadn't seen in so many times in other MK games. 6.0/10

Jax: The MK team finally did his arms properly, which look great now. I didn't care too much for his new look, but anything better than how it was. His alt. costume is a disgrace, but the original is pretty good. His story is still pretty much the same, but his ending was actually cool. As far as fighting goes, he's good, but too cheap for my taste. 5.5/10

Kitana: Her costumes are great, but she is horrible. Her combos aren't very good, so you'll have to rely on her fans. Her moves are also pretty disappointing. Anyway, her fans are good, but it's nearly impossible to impale your opponent with them, which is totally gay. Her fatality has been seen before, but was better in MK2. Her story and ending are pretty good, but she's just simply a bad fighter. 3.5/10

Raiden: This is one hell of a character. Raiden is stronger and better than I've ever seen him. His staff alone can do some serious ass kicking, even from long range because it's so long. No more superman move, or warp, but with them, he'd easily be too good. Great fatality, although it's been done, great combos, he's almost perfect. His costumes are good, and his story is alright. But he's not perfect, and definitely takes some practice. 9.5/10

Reptile: Although I'm not too fond of his character model, he's a good fighter, and has the best ending in the game. His fatality is average, could be much more realistic though. His crab fighting style is very cool, except for the fact that he sticks his tongue out about every second. His weapon is good, and he has some very nice combos. Overall, he's a great character. 8.5/10

Cyrax: This character has a cool appearance and a pretty good alternate costume. His fatality is one of the better ones, and he has a nice weapon (damn phony lightsaber). His combos are rather lame simply because the timing for them seems a bit off, making several of them very difficult to perform. His moves are okay, his story isn't great. He's pretty weak, but not bad. 5.5/10

scorpion is the strongest character in the game. he easily takes the number one spot. versatility, mad mix-ups in hapkido, u+4 spear rulz, hellfire guaranteed after most kd's...the attribute list goes on and on...grin

Shang Tsung- To go along with his best look yet Shang has also cranked up his game. He is quick and quite powerful, basic combos can easily be figured out and his weapon is perfect for pure slaughter. He is very annoying to fight against and packs a full arsenal of fireballs and soul steals.
9/10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
shang is probably number two spot underneath scorpy...his sidestep and 3,3,2 is MAD!
Sonya- Luitenant Sonya Blade is among the top fighters in MKDA. Now dressed in a decent uniform and not her yoga outfit she has also upgraded her fight. Kenpo is a decent style but it is Tae Kwon Do that steals the show, consisting of all kicks she can nail opponents both high and low and very fast at that, her weapons, not the best in the game but definately adds a new taste to the blade filled world of the other warriors.
10/10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sonya is tied for the number 2 spot with shang. best high/low mix-ups, proper abuse of the kiss can put peeps on the defensive VERY quickly, and she can pump out the damage with l-o-n-g strings: 1,1,4,kiss,neijin,1,1,4,kiss,1,1,CS,4,CS: 40% with eaze

8/10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
drahmin's very strong, probably number 4, right beneath nitara. once you learn how to play him, get his juggles down, and know when to use his avoid step, propeller clock and groundpound/balloflies mix-up you will win your share of matches...
Hsu Hao- Damage is his middle name, Hsu Hao is easily one of the toughest characters in MKDA. His hand to hand styles are slightly basic but very effective. His throw is the only one in the game that requires opponents to block low and his weapons work exactly like Kano's, which means they are just as deadly.
9/10
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
hsu has a good mix-up or two as well, and his R1 throw must be blocked low and can be added to the end of his high/mid string(s) making him very annoying in a close fight...he would probably be in the top 10 near the #9 spot.

Nitara- Like Kitana she is a bit lacking in battle. Her hand to hand styles are slightly better than Kitana's but her weapon style is one of the worst in the game, being slow and lacking combos. The unicorn kick is often ineffective and the blood spit not very damaging.
5/10

dood! no disrespect, but your rating here is complete nonsense!!!! her kama stance has one of the best mix-ups in the game!! 1,3,4 or 3,4 or even b+4,b+2 and you can mix someone up for their whole healthbar! she can launch in any stance as well! proper use of her power up with one simple 1,1,3,CS,b+2,b,d+4 and 78% and the match is practically over!! the unicorn kick should be used as a juggle ender and it's pretty decent for that purpose, it should never be 'just thrown out there' due to it's recovery! her fu jow pai stance is the strongest of her non-weapon stances and proper use of sidestepping + 1,1,1,3,3 or 1,1,1,3,CS is critical. basically i never use leopard for anything and stay in fu jow pai for 90% of the match...a really good strategy for nitara is fu jow pai: launch, small combo, powerup, rush in and try for 1,1,1,3,CS,b+2,b,d+4 and it's 78% (non-weapon) or 92% (weapon)!!! nitara is easily top tier and most people agree she's number 3 (right after scorpy(1),sonya and shang(2)) in the top ten strongest characters! take some time to play her and learn her and you will see the light! grin

If Scorpion didn't have Summon Hellfire...Bo' Rai Cho would be the best character in the game and that's not counting his infinite combo...I agree with MK_Legend now and say that Sonya isn't top 5 anymore, plus Drahmin, Reptile, Hsu Hao and Sub-Zero are great characters. Li Mei and Frost are fun. Haven't played the other characters much.

Scorpion and his Summon Hellfire cheese = 10/10
Bo' Rai Cho and his cheese (not his gas) = 10/10
Sub-Zero and his Dragon d+3 smile = 8/10
Sub-Zero using the "Stance Slide Trick" = 9/10

All I'm sayin' is don't knock Bo until you've seen him lay waste to everyone...he's that good, but Scorps better.
