So is Goro good or evil? In MK1 he worked for Shang Tsung and tried to help Kahn step through the portals to conquer earth. e is apparently killed or defeated by Lui Kang. Then somehow in MK4 he comes back to life and is there for some reason. And in Kung Lao's MKG ending Goro is apparently not evil, and in MKDA why is Goro fighting a battle against his old Master Shoa Kahn? I was kinda wondering, I probably have alot of the story screwed up, so if anyone can clear it up for me I'd appreciate it.

I'm not sure exactly how his story goes but Shokans in general had a falling out with Shao Kahn.
The Shokans were Shao Kahn's army of choice for a while. However, when Kahn got his chance to storm the Earth Realm in MK3, he sent Centaurs and Motauro was their general. Centaurs and Shokans hate each other, so when Kahn chose Centaurs as his army, it pissed the Shokans off.
I believe that happened. And I could see that leading to Goro fighting against Kahn and even joining the Earth Realm forces or something. I don't know all the stories involved so this has just been an attempt from memory.

Goro is merely serving his realm....but he's got his own feelings as well.
Here's how it goes down. Goro is 1,000 years old and he's the prince of the Shokan! Since King Gorbak (according to the MK1 manual, that's the name of his father) didn't have the proper time to raise his child, he had his servant Kintaro raise him for him (Kintaro spawned Goro, says his bio). Nevertheless, Goro became a strong leader and a strong fighter thanks to Kintaro's teachings.
When he was 500, he met Shang Tsung, and since the Outworld wanted to expand and make themselves more powerful, the Shokan would become more powerful too, he invited Goro to compete in the tournament to win for Outworld. Goro decided yes. It was then that Goro entered the Mortal Kombat tournament and demolished every opponent. EVERY opponent. He eventually came face to face with the champion Kung Lao (the original). They fought, and Goro killed him in battle, and Shang Tsung took his soul.
FOr every generation, he continued to win fights for Outworld and tournaments. No one could oppose the new champion of Mortal Kombat. Every tournament he won would get Outworld closer to unbalancing the furies and control Earth as part of Outworld. Goro kept winning and winning....then the year 1992 came. By this time, Goro was 1000 years old.
To Shang Tsung's surprise, the Earth warriors began to win. Goro decided to put a stop to this, and fought the Earth warrior Liu Kang. Liu Kang and Goro fought! In the end, Goro was beaten by Liu Kang. When the tournament ended, his body couldn't be found, so it was assumed he was dead. In actuality, Goro had run away into the Outworld, ashamed to show his face to his Shokan people and to Outworld since he had lost the tournament and Earth was out of their grasp.
He remained lost for five more years. No one knew where he was.
Finally, it came to his attention that Liu Kang was within the Outworld. At this time, Shinnok and the Netherealm were expanding. Goro decided to finally show his face once more to take his revenge on Liu Kang for defeating him. But while witnessing Shinnok's power and what was truly at stake, he realized the grudge he had held and the trouble he helped Outworld cause was far more important to undo rather than a grudge he had helped along the years. Finally at peace with himself and accepting his losses and deciding to focus on increasing peace, he returned to the Shokan people, much to their happiness as he was thought long-dead. When Shinnok's malice ended, Kitana went to Goro and asked him to help her increase the peace by signing a treaty between the Shokan and their rival tribe, the Centaurians. Goro agreed, but was attacked by Kung Lao. The attack was merely revenge for Goro murdering his ancestor years ago. Now that they're even, Goro and Kung Lao decide to make their own peace.
Now that things are cleared, Kitana and Edenia ask for Goro and the Shokan's help to demolish Shao Kahn and Outworld once and for all. Goro agrees, as he has caused enough trouble, and they join forces to end the malice. The war seems unwinnable, but Goro and Kitana push on. All of a sudden after a battle is finished, Goro (tired from all the fighting) is attacked by the warrior Noob Saibot - sent by Shao Kahn - and mortally wounded. It was too bad, and he ended up dying from his wounds.
His body was taken back to the Shokan, and they ceremonially dipped his body into lava.
That's all his story up there ^^^^^ will he be back? Who knows?

Kintaro being Gorbak's servent or having any relation to Goro is not in any canon bio for either Goro or Kintaro.
Kintaro has no relation to Goro outside of being in the same military. He really doesn't have much of a story at all. In fact depending on how old he is he may not have ever met Goro.

Kintaro entered the second tournament to take revenge on the combatants that lead to Goro's demise (although Goro isn't dead, but that's what Kintaro thinks).
This is his official canon bio in MKT.
but OK, yes, you have a point. Sorry for misleading you. Scratch off the Kintaro/Goro relationship, but the two must have met or had some relationship. I mean, no other Shokan has stepped up to Kahn saying, "Let me join you so I can avenge my student!" or whatever.

Kintaro doesn't have to be Goro's friend or student to be mad that a human beat a shokan in battle.
They were in the same army, but that doesn't mean they had a relationship. An army is made up of a ton of different people and depending on Kintaro's rank he may have never come into contact with Goro, who was the top guy. I mean, Private Joe Blow over in Iraq probably hasn't met President Bush. Also Goro was on Earth for hundreds of years fighting in the tournament. He may not have visited home.
Of course it's possible they were best buddies and had tea together every Sunday. Who knows? It doesn't say...and that's the point.

According to the OFFICIAL MK4 COMIC BOOK:
Goro was evil in Mk1.
He stayed hidden, he felt sad cause he lost. Till Mk4.
He joins forces with Kitana.
He is good now.
I have no idea why he was evil in the game though, (Mk4). In the comics they clearly explain why he is good again.
----
Anyway, In MKG he is finally good.
In MKDA he dies for being good. When he was evil he rocked.

I'm still not sure why he was fighting people before Shinnok. Is this the only MK game to have a sub boss on a different side than the boss?
I always thought putting Goro as a Sub Boss in MK4 was dumb. I thought maybe Noob or a creature darkened like Noob that was big would be cool.

As I said, Goro was looking for revenge on Liu Kang and the Earthrealm warriors for defeating him 5 years ago. He was an enemy to Earthrealm, but never an ally to Shinnok.
My guess is once he saw what was really really at stake, he realized how stupid and petty his grudge was compared to it.
