Im huge mk2 fan and loved the arcade but.I dont think its worth your money because the bad things about the arcade that your electrical bill will be sky high and most important arcade machines dont last forever the monitor will burn out in time i hate to say that but its true so your better off waiting for mat2 or just play it on mame now to keep you satisfied.

Not true at all. I bought an MK1 machine off of ebay for $200, the shipping was a bit pricey, like 50-100 bucks because it has to be shipped palletized by freight, unless you have the means to pick it up yourself. The cabinet was in moderate condition considering its age, but being an Arcade manager for 5 years gave me the knowledge inside and out of these games and all the hook up for new parts ect ect.

I really just wanted the cabinet, MK1 was great and all but i wanted MK2. It was a real easy conversion. Bought the MK2 jamma board and sound board off ebay as well, they just swap right out. Painted the cabinet black, bought all the fixins, MK2 marquee, side panels of Raiden and i had remembered that i had an MK2 control panel sitting in the office. I had removed it when Midway sent a conversion kit for NBA showtime with had 4 players. I was sentimental and didnt throw it away (lucky me).

Bought all new joysticks and buttons, put it on free play and fire it up. Its really a fun project, at the end there i had MK2 and UMK3 in the same cabinet and ended up selling it for $700 on ebay.

Things you should consider before buying it is why do you want it? Do you just want to play the game or your a nostalgic kinda person and want the real thing. It takes up room, not much but it can be kinda bulky. As for the power,i also have an old Atari Starwars arcade game as well, it doesnt suck all the much power, especially if you keep it off when not in use. Same goes for the monitor the monitor i had on mine ran like a champ crisp and clear, not bad for being nearly 15 years old. If the monitor does happen to go out, there is a guy in Anaheim i forget what the name is but he will swap ya for a new deflection board for a pretty cheap price, the accual tubes of the monitor arent known to go out 99% of the time its the deflection boards. But overall its a great thing to have if your into that stuff. But if you just want to play MK2 id wait for MAT2, its a pretty safe bet that it will be identical to the arcade.

It will last forever, just think of it as a car, you have to service it from time to time, but the cost isnt all that much unlike cars, lol.

I think I'd just build myself a halfway decent cabinet. Get an X-Arcade joystick, a console, and MAT2 when it comes out.

you got Revision 1.1? or Challenger Hack for the arcade?

I think they should make a MK collector's edition for PC.It will have MK 1, 2, and 3. It will be as good as the arcade version, no better, no worse. Just like Metal Slug, it got it's own collector's edition for PC. It had the first 3 games along with the better remake of the 2nd one and a few videoes and a cool song. The games were also exactly like the arcade versions
