I have noticed a lot of threads about people having problems running old MK games on new computers. I have a few small questions. First of all I have MK1 & MKII on one CD-Rom, I also have MK3, MK Trilogy, and MK4 all on CD-Rom. Are these the versions people are having problems with? If so, what exactly are the problems? I do have the downloaded files in case I ever install my games.

The original versions of MK/MK2/MK3 can't be run under windows (although the combo pack you have does). There was a second release of MK3 with windows support (but my copy doesn't work??) MKT has some problems with video cards i believe, mainly due to the drivers they used for game not supporting newer cards, and also with WinXP/ME. Fixes for most of these problems can be found in the sticky thread on this board. As far as i know MK4 has no problems running at all?

I have the MK/MK2 duo CD for Win95, but on XP it needed a file called "threed.vbx", which I had to download and install.

MK1 locks up constantly. If you press BLK + LP + LK (i.e. Sub-Zero's slide), it locks up, along with other random lock ups.

MK2 runs without sound effects. The only way I could get sound is to set the video card to Raster (I'm just taking a wild guess at the name. It starts with "R"). But it has no sound effects, and shitty MIDI music.
