For some reason, every MK game has its own spelling. What's the right way?

It's Raiden, which makes sense, since there is an actual God of Thunder in Japanese Mythology named Raiden. I'm thinking that many elements in Mortal Kombat (like Raiden, Fujin, and the Oni demons in MK: DA) were taken from Japanese mythology.
