Thinking here in the mortal kombat 1 and remembering two fatalitys came the question and also the curiosity. I do not think I've ever seen this question asked in an interview.
What reason or why of all the characters of mk1 the fatal of lui kang to be so bland? Do not have to face blood, without explosion, decapitation and etc?
Why is he good? Primary hero? Lack of ideas? Lack of hardware to add this or neglect?

bye

The reason his fatality is admittedly bland is simple: he is a Shaolin fighting monk, and does not believe in actually killing his opponents. Thus, his fatality is a simple cartwheel kick followed by an uppercut.

As for why he is the protagonist... it's hard to say exactly why. Basically, he is the Bruce Lee of the original Mortal Kombat game. He's awesome.

Liu Kang is awesome. He never liked violence. That ́s why his fatality is like that in MK 1.
