Does anyone know what triggers a Reptile clue? I've been playing Mame Mk 4.0 and 5.0 with speed toggle on and losing over and over again and continuing over and over and still no clues. Any one know?

Uhh, try reading the question. I already know what i need to do fight Reptile, double flawless and fatality when there are shadows flying past the moon, which usually happens every 8th rotation on the stages, I already know all that, what i was saying is... I've played a few hundred matchs on both the 4.0 and 5.0 t-unit versions each and still Reptile has not dropped at all to give a clue on how to find him, You know when he says "Look to La Luna" and stuff like. Does anyone know what makes him come down and start giving hints, or is it a timed issue like total playing time total time the machine is on?

Thats an interesting question. I've never heard an explanation of the triggers for reptile clues. There usually is a rule to that sort of thing. For instance in UMK3 for the arcade, when you let the game sit and it goes into Demo mode, what it displays there is dependent on the results of your last match against the computer. I forget exactly how it works, but its something that MK2KungBroken figured out.

I was playing on ZSNES and got a Reptile clue. Then I hit the "rewind" button (you have to set up ZSNES to be able to do this) and when I was expecting a Reptile clue again, it didn't happen. So it must be something that the game decided to do just spur-of-the-moment. And this is just in the SNES version anyway, for the original arcade, it may have been different.

doesnt the whole clue thing have something to do with the "dip" switches, i definetly remember that on the megadrive, mabye it has something similar in the arcade?
someone plz correct me, i kno im wrong.

there is nothing in the test switches menu that has any trigger for reptile. The only reference at all is in the audits menu were it simply lists a tally of the number of Reptile appearances and another tally for the number of Reptile battles that have occurred. The only unexplored options in the dip switch menu that I know of include two existing switches which are marked "unused". Another option to explore would be if reptile clues have something to do with winning streaks, but this would be nuts to try, because the game allows the option of up to 50,000 wins before the counter resets to zero. If someone is nuts enough, I would be interested to see what the screen looks like with 50,000 wins displayed.
